The students of class V and VI visited the the Central Bee Research Centre,Shivaji Nagar, Pune

on 10th & 13th October 2014 organised by the school. The students were divided into four groups
so that the officials could explain them properly.

Firstly they were shown the boxes where the bees make their honey comb and store honey. The
officials briefed them about the various types of bees, their colonies and their behavior. The
students were exposed to different traits of queen bee, worker bee and drone bee and their
function in collecting nectar and pollen from the flowers. The most amazing fact about the bees
that if the dwindling number of bees from the earth that would bring the end of the world left them
awestruck.
Thereafter they were taken to the honey bee museum. They came across many shapes of bee
hives. They were also shown the honey extractor, the variety of pollens, the wax produced by the
bees and used in cosmetics and the bee venom having medicinal value.

Altogether , it was indeed a highly informative, educative and enriching experience for the students
that also instilled values in them.
