For researchers at the high school, undergraduate, and
graduate levellearn skills you need to succeed in
research (even if you dont know it yet).
Fridays in DeMeritt 311, 12-1pm

July 7th Learning on your own
Research is much less structured than coursework, which has
benefits and detriments. We will discuss these challenges and provide
strategies for staying productive in this open-ended environment.

July 14th Presenting your research: talks


Starting with strategies for presenting your research at all levels,
we will introduce modes of presentation and then focus on oral
presentations.

July 21st Strategies for technical writing


Writing to communicate research results is very different from
what you learn in courses. We will introduce research writing, its
purpose and importance, and offer strategies for improving your
writing productivity.

July 28th Presenting your research: posters


Starting with strategies for presenting your research at all
levels, well introduce modes of presentation and then focus on
poster presentations.

August 4th Breaking down technical papers


It is often unclear what exactly you should be able to
understand from technical writing. Well discuss why this is so, and
then provide strategies for maximizing learning from technical
literature.
