Final Training Assignment

Prepare an Outline and Conduct a Training Discussion


This is your last apprentice assignment. Ideally, all of you will have used your time as an
apprentice effectively. This assignment is the final step in being released from the
program and any incentives or benefits you may be entitled to receive will be deferred
until you successfully it. I will assist you in any way I am able, it is my sincere wish that
all apprentices leave the program as successful Journey Persons. Your regularly
assigned officer will evaluate your performance and assist you in preparing your
outline. Any questions regarding the content of the assignment should be directed to
your officer, any other concerns may be directed to me.

Your final assignment has two parts:

The first part is to evaluate the apprentice program. Base your evaluation on a
scale from 1 to five, 1 being the least satisfactory and 5 being the most
satisfactory.
1. _____Quality of interaction between yourself and the training staff
2. _____Responsiveness of training staff
3. _____Applicability of assignments to job
4. _____Quality of material supplied for assignments
5. _____Monthly apprentice sheet ease of use
6. _____Degree of help from company officer in completing assignments
7. _____Degree of cooperation from crew members in completing assignments
8. _____Availability of research material for assignments
9. _____Timeliness of assignments from training staff
10. _____Overall feeling of accomplishment

The second part is to provide your feedback and that of your crew to improve
the program. Using the above items, conduct a formal discussion with your crew.
For each item, identify how it might be improved. Document the suggestions
and forward to Capt. Stedman.

This exercise is part of the apprentice program; please give this your best effort. I will
collate all the suggestions and e-mail you the results. Your officer will notify me of the
successful completion of your discussion. Your feedback is necessary in order to
improve the program.
