2009 The UIDAI was created for issuing Unique

Identification Numbers by the government. It was


created to work under the Planning Commission

2010 The NIAI Bill was introduced in Rajya Sabha on 3 rd


December and was subsequently referred to a
Standing committee by the then Speaker of Lok
Sabha.

2011
The standing committee while voicing its reservations
rejected the bill in its present form.

2013 In an interim order, the Supreme Court stated that


no person should suffer for not having an Aadhar
card despite it being made mandatory for certain
schemes.

2014 In UIDAI v. CBI, the SC issued an order stating that


Aadhar cannot be made mandatory by any agency
for availing benefits.

2016 Aadhar Act is passed by the Lok Sabha as a money


bill rejecting all Rajya Sabha recommendations.
