Friendship Bracelet Instructions
Level: Intermediate
BEFORE YOU BEGIN making your friendship bracelet, you should know how to make a Right Hand Double Knot
and Left Hand Double Knot. You will also need to know how to make a Single Right-Single Left Hand Knot and a
Single Left-Single Right Hand Knot. You can see these instructions at myfbm.com.
1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses orange, white & dark purple).
You will need 2 strands of orange, 2 strands of white & 1 strand of dark
purple.
2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot inch from fold forming a loop.
3. Attach your inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.
4. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color
in slots 1, 4, 7 & 10 (orange), slots 2, 3, 8 & 9 (white) & slots 5 & 6
(dark purple). This will align the colors of your bracelet pattern.
5. To begin, take string #1 (orange) and make a single right single left hand
knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (orange) will stay in slot 1.
6. Take string #3 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with
string #4 (orange). String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.
7. Use string #5 (purple) and make a right hand double knot with string #6
(purple). String #5 (purple) will now be in slot 6.
8. Take string #8 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with
string #7 (orange). String #8 (white) will stay in slot 8.
9. Take string #10 (orange) and make a single left single right hand knot
with string #9 (white). String #10 (orange) will stay in slot 10.
10. Next take string #2 (white) and make a right hand double knot with
string #3 (white). String #2 (white) will now be in slot 3.
11. Now use string #5 (purple) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #4 (orange). String #5 (purple) will stay in slot 5.
12. Use string #6 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot
with string #7 (orange). String #6 (purple) will stay in slot 6.
13. Take string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with
string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.
14. Use string #1 (orange) and make a single right single left hand knot
with string #2 (white). String #1 (orange) will stay in slot 1.
15. Take string #3 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with
string #4 (orange). String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.
16. Use string #5 (purple) and make a right hand double knot with string
#6 (purple). String #5 (purple) will now be in slot 6.
17. Take string #8 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with
string #7 (orange). String #8 (white) will stay in slot 8.
18. Take your string #10 (orange) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (orange) will stay in slot 10.
19. Next take string #2 (white) and make a right hand double knot with
string #3 (white). String #2 (white) will now be in slot 3.
20. Use string #5 (purple) and make a left hand double knot with string #4
(orange). String #5 (purple) will now be in slot 4.
21. Next take string #6 (purple) and make a right hand double knot with
string #7 (orange). String #6 (purple) will now be in slot 7.
22. Use string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with
string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.
23. Take string #1 (orange) and make a single right single left hand knot
with string #2 (white). String #1 (orange) will stay in slot 1.
24. Use string #4 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot
with string #3 (white). String #4 (purple) will stay in slot 4.
25. Now use string #6 (orange) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #5 (orange). String #6 (orange) will stay in slot 6.
26. Take string #7 (purple) and make single right single left hand knot with
string #8 (white). String #7 (purple) will stay in slot 7.
27. Use string #10 (orange) and make a single left single right hand knot
with string #9 (white). String #10 (orange) will stay in slot 10.
28. Now take string #3 (white) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #2 (white). String #3 (white) will stay in slot 3.
29. Take string #4 (purple) and make a right hand double knot with string
#5 (orange). String #4 (purple) will now be in slot 5.
30. Use string #7 (purple) and make a left hand double knot with string #6
(orange). String #7 (purple) will now be in slot 6.
31. Take string #9 (white) and make a single left single right hand knot with
string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will stay in slot 9.
32. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself. Repeat steps 5-31 to
continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.
33. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the
slots 1-3 in your left hand and the strings from slots 8-10 in your right
hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.
34. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of your
friendship bracelet.
35. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut off the ex-
cess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is ready to wear or share!
