I am directed to refer to your letter No1D3/40,
dated 2nd February, 1978, addressed to the Department’ of
Personnel and Adwinistrative Reforas, copy ene: endorsed
to this office, on the subject noted above, and to state
that the UPSC have already decided that professional amt
technical qualifications such as ¢ pass in Sections 'A' and
"B! of the AMIZ, Graduateship Examination of tue Institution
of Blectronics &nd Tele-communication Engineers, etc, which
are recognised by the Government as equivalent to degree in
Engineering for purposes of recrultuent to Superior gervices
and posts under the Central Government should be recognised
for purposes of admission to competitive examinations:
Contucted by them for recruttment to nou-technical Services/
posts (vizehe TAS oto., Assistants! Grade ani Combined
jefence Services Examinations) for adaission to which degree
of a recognised University or equivalent has been presorived
as the basic educational qualification. This decision was
given wide publicity and a copy of the Press issued by the
Commission on 29412.77 1s enclosed for your information,

PRESS NOTE
The Union Public Service Commission
have decided that professional and technical
Qualifications such as a pass in Sections 'A' and
1B! of the A.M.I.E., Graduateship Examination of the
Institution of Electronics and Tele-communication
Engineers etc. which are recognised by tha Government
&s eduivalent to degree in Engineering for purposes of
recruitment to Superior Services/posts under the
Central Government should also be recognised for
purposes of sdwission to competitive examinations
conducted by them for recruitment to non-technical
Services/posts (viz., the I.A.S. etc. Assistants!
Grade and Combined Defence Services Examinations)
for admission to which a degree of a recognised
University or equivalent haS been prescribed as the
basic educational qualification.
