Introduction
Plutaik enumerates the plutas in the Taittirya Sahit. In the first part of the text the
beginning words of the anuvkas together with the number of plutas are listed. The total numer of
plutas is 41. This number includes 4 ragaplutas. In the second part all the words containing a
pluta vowel are mentioned.

this one the total number of all plutas is forty-one. Now he mentions the words containing the
pluta in form of lokas.

The five ragaplutas beginning with mamm have been mentioned above in form of a loka.
The four words m before hau3m (6.5.9.1), tamm before sahasrm (7.1.7.4), yadvikar and
yadvikarm (5.3.7.4) are not pluta.
