Physical Design

The Physical Design shows the procedures in making a logical design work in the real world. In
this part, the network designer gives a detailed specification of the hardware, software, links,
services, connection of each equipment and cabling necessary to implement the Logical Design.
Physical Design provides the network diagrams and to-scale wiring plans and the detailed lists of
equipment and parts.

Figure 4.1 shows the complete network topology of the NTC Regional Office ground floor. The
network topology consists of the end devices in each office connected to switch, router, server and
modem.

Figure 4.6 shows the server rack placed in the server room. It contains a server, modem,
router, switch, patch panel, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and power supply.

Figure 4.7 shows the floor plan of the NTC Regional Office with priority cable on the ceiling
and priority cable on floor connected in the server in server room. Server rack, UPS, Demarcation
box, fire extinguisher and end devices on each room are also illustrated in the floor plan.

Figure 4.8 shows the demarcation point in the office connected to the Internet Service
Provider (ISP). This demarcation point is often the point at which the cable physically enters the
building.
