PRISMA Unveils a New Concert

Symphony music festival to feature BC composers and modern repertoire

Powell River, BCThe Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA)
Festival is proud to unveil a new concert as part of its two-week series of events. Raven
Tales Chamber Music Concert will feature modern repertoire from BC composers on
PRISMAs international stage, as part of a vision to attract diverse audiences. The concert
takes place Tuesday, June 20th at 7:30pm at the Evergreen Theatre in Powell River.

PRISMA Guest Artist and percussionist Bill Linwood hand-picked the selection of
repertoire, which includes pieces by another PRISMA Guest Artist, Marcus Goddard.
Goddard, who doubles as an award-winning composer and a trumpeter for the Vancouver
Symphony Orchestra, was inspired by renowned Nisgaa artist Mike Dangeli. The result was
Raven Tales, a five-part suite with piano, tuned gongs, violin, clarinet, and cello, mirroring
the morphing image of the Nisgaa trickster figure, Txamsem, or Raven.

Other pieces that will be performed at PRISMAs Raven Tales concert include Jordan
Nobles Surface Tension, Jennifer Butlers under bleak skies, Marcus Goddards Solus,
Jocelyn Morlocks Darwin Fish, and Giorgio Magnanensis Quid. Goddards Solus and
Magnanensis Quid feature live electronics as accompaniment for the chamber musicians.

Unique to PRISMAs Evergreen concert series this year, Raven Tales has open seating on a
first come, first served basis and admission is by donation. A cash bar is open before the
concert and there will be no intermission.
