THE PULSE WIDTH MODULATION

The pulse width modulation is a method that uses a digital signal source to convert that
signal to an analog signal. The pulse width modulation has two main components one is the
frequency and the duty cycle, these two components define the behavior of the PWM.
Digital control is used to create square waves, a signal switched on and off. The duty cycle
describes the time that the signal is high or on in the square wave, meanwhile the frequency
just describes how fast the cycle is completed, it means the time that
PWD signals are used to control applications, one of them is to control DC motors, but also
it is used to control valves pumps, hydraulics among other mechanical parts. Other
application is to send information through an analog way, it is useful to communicate with
digital systems on an analogical way.
One example could be to adjust the brightness of a led by adjusting the duty cycle, with this
you can mix different colors of leds and get a specific color.
The PWM is used mostly to control devices and to get a specific action of them, the thing is
to set the correct frequency and to adjust the duty cycle to get the action required.
