bySkidmore,Owings&MerrillLLP(SOM)willbe541m(1776ft)tallwith104floors.Roofheightwillbethesameasin
theformer1WTC,411m,andanantennawillbringtotalheightto1776ft,markingtheyearofUSA'sindependence.

"BegunbySilversteinPropertiesinApril2006andtakenoverbythePortAuthorityofNewYorkandNewJersey,
constructionhasacceleratedinthelastyear.

Anexpansivepubliclobbywillbetoppedbyaseriesofmechanicalfloors,comprisingthebaselevelof1WTC.Above
thisbasewillbesixtynineofficefloors,includingtwotelevisionbroadcastfloors,mechanicalfloors,andtwo
restaurants.Atopthis,therewillbeanobservationdeckandaglassmetalparapet.Thecrownoftheprojectisa
communicationsplatformanda408foot,cablestayedantenna,designedincollaborationwithartistKennethSnelson.

SustainabledesigniscentraltoOneWTC'sdevelopment,integratingrenewableenergy,interiordaylighting,reuseof
rainwater,andrecycledconstructiondebrisandmaterials.Thebelowgradeconcourseswillincludeapproximately
55,000squarefeetofretailspaceandconnecttoanextensivetransportationnetwork.
OneWTCwillincorporateadvancedlifesafetysystemsthatexceedNewYorkCitybuildingcoderequirements.From
structuralredundancytodensefireproofingtobiochemicalfilters,itwillcreateanewstandardforhighrisebuildings.

Extrawidepressurizedstairs,multiplebackupsonemergencylighting,andconcreteprotectionforallsprinklerswill
ensureoptimalfirefighteraccess.Exitsaredesignedtoensureeasyevacuation,andallsafetysystemswillbe
encasedinthecorewall,withtheenhancedelevators.
Safe,sustainable,artisticallydynamicOneWTCwillstandasashiningbeaconforNewYork'stransformed
Downtown.

Froma200footconcretebase,thetowerascendssixtyninestories,itsedgeschamferedbacktoformeightisosceles
triangles,aperfectoctagonatcenter.Itculminatesinasquare,glassparapetatthecrown.Itscrystallineformwill
createavibranteffect,asthelightrefractsinitlikeakaleidoscope,changingthroughouttheday.1WTCwillhave69
officefloors,arestaurant,anenclosedobservationdeck,andatwolevelbroadcastfacility,aswellasbelowgrade
shoppingandaccesstopublictransportation.

Thecubicbaseof1WorldTradeCenterwithhaveasquarefootprintthesamesizeasthefootprintsoftheoriginalTwin
Towers.Cladinmorethan2,000piecesofprismaticglass,thesurfaceofthebasewillshimmer.Surroundingthebase
willbeacommunalspaceattheplazalevelhasantecedentsinBryantPark,thestepsattheMetropolitanMuseum,
andthebaseofRenaissancepalazzos.Inthisspace,peoplewillgather,sit,relax,andreflect,aroundsteelterraces
shadedbytreesandtexturedbygranitecobblestones.VisitorstotheWTCsitewillfindtheplazaanopen,reflective
space,onethatconnectsthebuildingwithitssurroundingneighborhoods.

Thecrownof1WorldTradeCenteristhe408footantenna,whichwillconsistofamastandacommunicationplatform
ring.Themastwillbeprotectedbyaoneofakindfiberglasspanelsystemthatwillresistwindloading,andcreatea
protectedmaintenancearea.Atthebaseofthemast,atetrahedrallatticeringwillsupportmediatransmission
equipmentandbraceeightradiofrequencytransparentKevlarguycablesthatsupportthemast.Whenlitatnight,a
beaconatthetopwillsendoutahorizontallightbeamthatcanbeseenfrommilesaway.

Withentrancesonallfoursidesofthebuilding,1WorldTradeCenterhasbeendesignedtointegratethe
heterogeneoustrafficofvisitorandofficetenants.Eachportalwillallowdedicatedaccesstotheconcourselobbyand
observationdeck,officefloors,andrestaurant.Thelightfilledgrandlobbywillencirclethecentralcore,asettingfor
changingartexhibits."
