SpaceX was founded in June 2002 by Elon Musk, who by March 2006 had

invested US $ 120 million of his personal assets in the project.7 On August 4, 2008,
SpaceX accepted a US $ 20 million investment by The Founders Found.

SpaceX has practically doubled its size every year since it was founded in 2002.
It grew from 160 employees in November 2005 to more than 500 by July 2008, to
exceed 1100 in 2010

In November 2012, Elon Musk announced at a conference of the Royal

Aeronautical Society in London, his intention to establish the first human city on
Mars. This project would begin in 2018 by building the ship in which to send to the
pioneer groups of no more than 10 people, who would be in charge of building
the infrastructure in which to develop the future city among other tasks such as
fertilization and conversion of elements.
