The United Klans of America, Inc. Klan organizations was chartered in 1961 in Georgia. Its stated aims and purposes are the promotion of Americanism, white supremacy, and segregation of the races. It is the dominant Klan group in the South with headquarters at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is currently active in several states. The United Klans of America, Incorporated, Krights of the Ku Klux Klan (UKA, Inc., KKKK), South Carolina Realm, is subordinate to’ the parent group in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and receives instructions and guidance fxom the National Headquarters. On September 71,| elected ind as of that date, the headquarters and mailing address of this group is 130 Brittany Road, Gaffney, South Carolina. The Invisible Empire, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, Realm of South Carolina, was organized in’ June of 1970 as an independent Klan organization in South Carolina and is not affiliated with any Klan group outside of ‘ South Carolina. It was again stated at this board meeting that the initiation fee for joining the NKKKK would be $10.00 and the yearly dues per member would be $15.00. Printing plates were made to print klan application, for membership forms and small hand-out cards bearing the name "INVISIBLE EMPIRE, NATIONAL KNIGHTS OF THE KU KLUX KLAN, POST OFFICE BOX 13, PINE BUSH, N.Y.". Members present voted in favor of an independent charter with the understanding the New York State Realm be maintained within the jurisdiction of the NKKKK. commented a new independent klan charter could not officially be adopted until incorporation papers were properly filed. A name for the independent klan charter was discussed but not selected at this time. stated that NKKKK has had internal problems at the national level caused by Imperial Wizzard JAMES VENABLE, who fears his position is threatened when state klan officers become too powerful. Plans were discussed regarding the constructi separate building to house the state klan headquarters. stated that having a state headquarters separate from any members house would add prestige to the New York State Realm. He commented this building when used by Klavern 102 would give local klan members a feeling of belonging to a real klan and not just a social gathering. Suggestions for future Klavern 102 meetings were discussed and included the showing of films to maintain the interest of klan members; classes on outdoo vival techniques and having workshop type meetings stated that one Klan Kraft lecture must be given at each klavern meeting. Klan literature printed on printing presses operated by members of Klavern 102 was assembled during these meetings for distribution by the klan in the southern states. May 10, 1973 On May 14, 1973, tests were printed on the seven klan symbols, klan offices and titles of klan officers to be given to Klavern 102 members. Cross Burnings and Rallies in Georgia A rally and cross burning sponsored by the Hart County Klavern of the NKKKK vere held on Saturday evening, June 9, 1973, outside of Hartwell, Georgia. The rally started at’8:00 p-m,, one hour later than originally planned due to the inclement weather. Approximately 125 people attended and heard JAMES VENABLE give a speech on the history of the Klan. 6/10/73 Annual Rally The annual rally and cross burning of the NKKKK took phee on Saturday evening, September 1, 1973, on the property of NKKKK Imperial Wizard JAMES R. VENABLE, located at the foot of Stone Mountain, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Approximately 500 people attended the rally, 80 of them wearing Klan robes. Imperial Wizard JAMES R, VENABLE gave the principal speech in which he stated that the Klan stood by the American flag and was in the forefront d its defense. VENABLE called on those present "to keep the blood lines pure’ and urged the deportation of Negroes back to Africa. FINANCES ladvised on December 10, 1973 that the NKKKK charges a $10 initiation fee to new members and charges $15 per year dues for members, This source advised that at the present time this is the only income the NKKKK has — 79 @ 6 CO 157-141 in South Carolina with one exception. The source stated that this exception was a country music show sponsored by the NKKKK during the latter part of 1973 at Williamgon, South Carolina, at which the NKKKK charged 99¢ for admission in an attempt to raise money for the State Office. On January 6, 1974, the Grand Board of the NKKKK held a meeting at Williamston, South Carolina, at which it was decided that the Grand Office would be responsible for the financial expenditures necessary to purchase Klan literature. It was again stated at this board meeting that the initiation fee for joining the NKKKK would be $10 and the yearly dues per member would be $15. Sources of income for Klaverns have been from donations end collections at Klan rallies and at Klavern meetings. Expenditures are primarily for State dues, Province dues, rent utilities, flowers and occasional supper meetings. ret VIII.
