N.B. More detailed provisions relating to many of the terms and conditions
set out in this contract are to be found in the Conditions of Service
Handbook and the accompanying Joint Commentary.
1. Duties
1.1. You will carry out your duties under the reasonable direction of the
College Principal. The Principal may from time to time delegate this
responsibility and other responsibilities mentioned in this contract to
other members of the College management.
1.2 You may be called upon to perform any of the duties set out in
Appendix 4 of the Conditions of Service Handbook which may
reasonably be assigned to you. The particular tasks required of you will
be specified in a job description. This job description may be changed
provided always that the tasks specified are consistent with the list of
duties laid down in Appendix 4 of the Conditions of Service Handbook
and that changes will only be made after consultation with you.
2. Working Time
2.1 Subject to the provisions in the other paragraphs of this section, you
may be required to work for 195 days in any year of which 190 will be
days on which you may be required to teach in addition to carrying out
other duties. Within this 195 days, up to 1265 hours a year will be
allocated reasonably to you by the Principal. Details of this directed
time will be provided by the Principal.
2.2 Within the 1265 hours you may be required to teach for up to 6 hours
over two evenings per week. Any teaching in the evening beyond this
level would be undertaken only on a voluntary basis.
2.3 In addition to the requirements in 2.1 above, you will work such
additional hours as may be needed to enable you to discharge your
duties effectively including, in particular, the marking of students work,
the writing of reports on students and the preparation of lessons,
teaching material and teaching programmes.
3. Place of Work
3.1 Your principal place(s) of work is/are at the Colleges site(s) at but you
may be required to move your principal place of work to the Colleges
site(s) at or any new site(s) within [] miles of your original principal
place(s) of work.
3.2 From time to time you may be required to attend for duty at places other
than the Colleges site(s).
4. Salary
4.1 Your starting salary will be point . of the Sixth Form Colleges
Teachers Main Scale (currently . per annum) which will be paid
monthly by credit transfer on the . day of the month.

4.3 When point 6 is reached you will be eligible to apply for the
Professional Standards Payment. If you meet the criteria in the Sixth
Form Colleges scheme your pay will be increased the following
September to and you will be placed on the first point of the PSP
range. Full details of the PSP scheme are contained in the Conditions
of Service Handbook.

4.4 The current values of the PSP range are:
4.5 Your starting salary will be point of the Sixth Form College

4.7 Your position on the PSP Range will normally be reviewed every two
years taking into account the outcome of annual performance reviews.
4.8 Your starting salary will be point . of the Sixth Form College

annum which includes PSP / does not include PSP for which you are
eligible to apply. Full details of the PSP scheme are contained in the

4.9 Your position on this Range will normally be reviewed every two years

London / Outer London / Fringe Area Allowance (currently .. per

Where there are changes in your duties and responsibilities which have
salary consequences, these will normally be effected on 1 st September, but
where appropriate can take effect at other times of the year.
4.13 The pay levels will be reviewed from time to time by the Corporation,
who will give due consideration to the recommendations of the National
Committee for Teaching Staff in deciding on levels of pay.

8. Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures
8.1 If you have a grievance relating to your employment, you are entitled
to express it. The procedure for this is set out in a document that the

9. Period of Notice
However, if you have been continuously employed for more than eight
years you are entitled to receive longer notice as specified in the
Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978.
10.1 Your period of continuous service for statutory employment rights dates
from the date of commencement of your service with this College. This

those recommendations from the national Committee for Teaching Staff
that have been adopted by the Corporation. These terms and

with trade unions recognised by the College and by the rules of the
College.
