INTRODUCTION Authority 1. ‘This Servicing Schedule is the authority for carrying out all servicing tasks on the subject equipment, Responsibilities 2. The Unit Commander is responsible for ensuring that the operations detailed in this Schedule are properly carried out. He may oider any operation to be carried out more frequently than is specified if the conditions under which his equipments are Operating render it necessary, He should consult his REME adviser before ordering much changes. & ‘The Unit Commander may adjust the specified servicing intervals by plus or minus 10 per cent to suit local circumstances. Inspections and Examinations 4. The Unit Commander is advised to arrange inspections to be carried out on receipt of the equipment and thereafter in accordance with Army Code number 71150 Annex C. 5. Examinations are carried out by REME in accordance with AGAI vol 4 paras 142.03 1- 142.036. Associated Publications 6. This servicing is to be carried out when the equipment is taken out of use for periods exceeding one month. 2. An equipment taken out of use for periods exceeding four months is to be put into preservation in accordance with EMER Wheeled Vehicles A 019 Miscellaneous Instruction No 9. 3. The equipment is to be cleaned, dried and stored under cover where possible. 4. Any overdue servicing is to be carried out when the equipment is brought back into use. OPERATION Carry out table 6 servicing and patch-paint Carry out next servicing due Rectify all faults affecting roadworthiness Fill fuel tank Disconnect battery earth leads WEEKLY Check and adjust tyre pressures Report any fuel, oil or coolant leaks BI-MONTHLY Carry out table 6 servicing Operate equipment, ensuring operating temperature is reached and all oils are circulated. Rectify all faults affecting roadworthiness Disconnect battery earth leads TABLE 6 — DRIVER CHECKS 1. This servicing is to be carried out on those days on which the equipment is to be used. It is to be read in conjunction with Standing Orders for crews of AFYV’s (armour Pt 8) Army Code 70032. 2. All faults are to be reported as soon as possible. oP No OPERATION Daily Before starting engine:- 1 Check fire extinguishers. 2 Check/top-up coolant level Note: Where the use of AL 39 is ordered, the specific gravity of coolant is 10 be maintained in accordance with DCI Gen S82/74. 3 Check engine oil level in accordance with User Handbook. 4 Check/top-up brake fluid reservon Note: Report if brake reservoir requires topping up frequenily 5 Check tyres and tyre pressures. 6 Operate the gear change pedal at least six full strokes in each gear. After starting engine:- 5 Check ail gauges and waming lights. 8 Check lights and horn. 9 Drive a short distance and check brakes and steering. During halts 10 Check for fuel, oil and coolant leaks. by Check brake drums and hubs for overheating. 12 Check wheel nuts. 3 pty At end of use each day 1S Replenish as necessary with fuel, oil and coolant. 16 Check suspension and steering linkage for damage and of] leaks. 17 Weekly 18 Check/top-up batteries Note: When operating in high ambient temperature a daily check is to be made. vv Check wheel nut tightness with wheelbrace, TABLE 7 — INITLAL SERVICING ‘This servicing is only to be carried out when the equipment (or a new/ overhauled assembly) has completed the first 800 km (S00 miles). OPERATION Tighten the following:- Cylinder head nuts using torque wrench (QT). Rocker gear nuts (QT). Exhaust manifold and flange nuts (QT). Adjust:- Tappet clearances (QT). Fan and generator belts (QT). Gear change pedal free play (QT). Change the oil in the following:- Engine. In addition renew oil filter element (QT). OMD 75 Air cleaner and clean the air cleaner element (QT). OMD 75 Gearbox. OMD 75 Transfer box. OEP 220 Bevel boxes. OEP 220 Check/top-up the following:- Steering box. OEP 220 Steering cross shaft bevel box. OEP 220 Hub reduction gear and outer tracta joint housings. OEP 220 Fluid coupling. OM 13 Brake master cylinder. Ox 8 Other operations Clean the main fuel filter (QT). Clean the carburettor union filter (QT). TABLE 8 — 1500 km (1000 miles)/ 3 Monthly Servicing This servicing is to be carried out every 15000 km (1000 miles) or 3 months whichever occurs first. Lubricate 1 | Suspension Link pivot pins and spring fulcrum bushes and pins. 2 | Steering rod ball joints. 1, 10 XG 279 3 | Steering swivel pins. 2,9 XG 279 4 | Gear change pedal pivot and linkage. (2) Ensure that the threads and mating faces are free from paint, rust, dirt, oil and grease. (3) Replace wheel nuts and tighten to correct torque figure using diagonal selection. Insert: New operation 19 19 Tighten the Road wheel nuts (using a torque wrench). Procedure: (1) Slacken off the nut. (2) Ensure the mating faces are free from paint, rust, dirt, oil or grease. (3) Tighten the nut to comect torque figure. (4) Carry out operations on ail remaining nuts using diagonal selection. (2) Tighten the nut to correct torque figure. (3) Carry out operations on remaining nuts using diagonal selection.
