Environment Policy

The overall objectives of the Port of Melbourne Operations (Port of Melbourne)


Environment Policy are to:
1. comply with all statutory environmental requirements and other applicable
environmental responsibilities
2. meet the environmental performance requirements of Port of Melbournes Safety and
Environment Management Plan (SEMP)
3. support a port-wide culture of responsible environmental management and continual
environmental improvement
4. align with all relevant policies which address key port environmental issues
5. provide adequate resources and training to maintain an Environment Management
System that is consistent with the objectives and principles of the international standard
ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems (2004)
6. provide staff with an appropriate level of commensurate training.
All employees have a personal responsibility to:
1. integrate environmentally sustainable decision making into the planning and
implementation of activities
2. support continual improvement in Port of Melbournes environmental performance
3. comply with all policies and procedures
4. immediately notify management of any environmental hazard or incident.
