Learning Objective
TI.9 The student will make connections between theatre
and other fields of knowledge.
Online Activity
I will begin class by giving an overview about the importance of
research in theatrical design. I will then instruct students to
engage in the activity which will require students to make a
movie matching certain criteria and using historically
appropriate images. This connects to theatre because it
requires students to do historically accurate research, a
requirement for theatre when attempting to perform a show
set in another time period. This will allow students to connect
theatrical principles with historical principles, relating to the
learning objective for the lesson. They will also partially sit in
for a director of a movie, a role with similar aspects to theatre.

After completing the activity, they will be required to create a


written paper where they justify and explain all of the choices
the use for the film the create as well as relating the activity to
theatrical design in general.

Students will go to the link above. Then the students will select

one of the two film categories. Students will then search for
the given prompt such as sports car. Then students will be
required to fin an image of a sports car accurate to the time
period given during the film.
