LISTENING SECTION
In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English.
There are four parts in this section with special direction for each part.
PART I
In this part of the test, you will hear some dialogues and questions spoken in English. The
questions and the dialogues will be spoken twice. They will not be printed in your test book, so you
must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying.
After you listen to the dialogue and the question it, read the five possible answers, and decide
which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard. Now, listen to a sample
question.
You will hear:
Man : "Do you go to the library very often?"
Woman : "Yes, I do. I love reading very much."
Man : "What do you like to read?"
Woman : "Novel."
What is the topic of the conversation?
A. How to borrow books in the library
B. Going to the library
C. Borrowing books
D. Novel
E. Reading hobby
The best answer to this question is reading hobby. Therefore, you should choose answer (E).
1. Man :I think that new assistant manager is going to work out, dont you?
Woman :Yes, Ive heard that he helps the staff out and hardly anyone calls in sick anymore.
Man : Hell probably be the manager before you know it.
Narrator : What is known about the new employee?
2. Man : Hello, room service? I ordered breakfast over half an hour ago.
Woman : Im sorry, sir, but the kitchen has been very busy this morning. Well have your breakfast up to
your room immediately.
Man : Please hurry. We have to check out soon if were going to catch our plane
Narrator : Where are they?
PART II
In this part of the test, you will hear some dialogues or monologues spoken in English. The dialogues or
monologues will be spoken twice. They will not be printed in your test book, so you must listen carefully to
understand what the speakers are saying. After you listen to the dialogue or monologue, look at the five pictures
provided in your test book, and decide which one would be the most suitable with the dialogue or monologue you
have heard.
Questions 3 to 7
3. Man : What is the waitress doing?
Woman : She is cleaning the table.
5. Man : I and my family want to see some places in New Delhi this afternoon. Do you have any
suggestions?
Woman : Do you want to have a tour?
Man : Yeah, sure.
Woman : W e l l , y o u c a n g o t o T a j M a h a l .
7. Woman : H o w c a n I g o t o t h e d r u g s t o r e ?
Man : You can go there by bus.
PART III
Questions 8 to 10
In this part of the test, you will hear some incomplete dialogues spoken in English, followed by
five responses, also spoken in English. The dialogues and the responses will be spoken twice. They
will not be printed in your test book, you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are
saying. You have to choose the best response to each question.
Now, listen to a sample question.
Man : "Where are we going to stay?"
Woman : "At the Sun Hotel, near the beach."
Man : "Why there?
Woman : "...."
What will the woman most likely reply?
A. Stay there
B. It provides excellent service
C. Theres a hotel there
D. Its on the beach
E. Its near here
8. Alice : What do you do, Bruce?
Bruce : I work downtown at City Hotel.
Alice : Are you a bellhop?

PART IV
Questions 11 to 15
ln this part of the test you will hear a question or statement spoken in English, followed by five responses,
also spoken in English. The question and the responses will be spoken twice. They will not be printed in your
test book, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. You have to choose the best
response to each question or statement.
11. Mr. Andrew wants to join a meeting. But he dont know the location of the meeting room. Where is it probably
located?
13. I order a plate of fried rice just now. But, I havent received my order yet.
14. Miss Lee is the director of a company. Will she discuss the budget at tomorrows meeting?
15. There will be a meeting tomorrow. Arent you supposed to be at the staff meeting?
