Well graded gravel + sand gravel mixtures with or without

clay binder, and clayey sands poorly graded or sand clay
I Rock or hard soil
mixtures (GB, CW, SB, SW, SC) having N above 30 (N = STP
value)

All soils with N between 10 and 30, and poorly graded

II Medium soils
sands or gravelly sands with little of no fines (SP with N>15)

III Soft soils All soils other that SP with N<10
