Health Promotion Ideas for Improving Health Outcomes. 31 Vol. M.P. 0'Donnell, 01/01/2017.
Web. 11 July 2017.

Summary: Small businesses have been proclaimed to be the backbone of our economy and,
given small to midsize workplaces, where nearly everyone works. They represent one of the
greatest opportunities for improving the health of the nation. Added to this the attention that
business start-up are getting among policy makers as a remedy for slow growth economy US
small business administration (USBA)1. They need to examine how small businesses needs
and opportunities for improving employee health differ from large companies is greater still.
The forth coming Art and Science of Health Promotion Conference theme is Whats the
right mix between elements that promote health such as those in the conference host
Michael ODonnells AMSO framework: awareness, motivation, skills, and opportunity.

Grit and Mindset as Predictors of Student Success in a First-Time Online High School
Course. Phillips-Martinez, Brooke. Northwest Nazarene University, ProQuest Dissertations
Publishing, 2017.

Summary: It is challenging to keep students in online courses at attrition rates from 20- 80%
higher than traditional face-to-face courses. Because of the increase in enrollment and high
attrition rates, student readiness should be analyzed before the student enrolls in an online
course. However, there have not been studies that confirm whether the surveys predict online
success in a student's first online high school course. Growth mindset and grit have shown to
be linked with success in several areas where failure was more common than success
(Duckworth, 2007; Dweck, 2008). However, because Duckworth (2016) found that grit can
be increased through the growth mindset and that a fixed mindset can turn into a growth
mindset, these variables should be studied in the context of a student's first online high school
course.

Journal of Engineering (Atlanta, Ga.): Patent Issued for Boat and Improved Wake-Modifying
Device for Manipulating the Size and Shape of the Wake (USPTO 9573655). NewsRx,
03/06/2017.
Summary: "Embodiments of wake-modifying devices are provided herein for manipulating
the size and/or shape of the wake (or wave) produced by a power boat, particularly by
channeling significantly more water to the non-surf side of the boat, so that constructive
interference of waves converging behind the boat form a substantially larger, smoother wake
on the surf-side of the boat. "Unlike conventional port and starboard trim tabs, which consist
primarily of a flat plate, the wake-modifying device described herein provides a water
channel, which is configured to capture and redirect significantly more of the water flowing
past the transom to the outboard side of the boat. The 'forward end portion' refers to the
longitudinal portion of the water channel closest to the transom of the boat, and the 'trailing
end portion' refers to the longitudinal portion of the water channel farthest from the transom.
Convergent water channels may produce by configuring the water channel, such that the
width of the water channel is larger on the inboard side and smaller on the outboard side. A
divergent water channel, such that the width of the water channel is smaller on the inboard
side and larger on the outboard side.
