That perfect family we see inside a

dollhouse
O nce upon a time there was this happy and wealthy family. The father whos a scientist, the loving mother

and their daughter, Emily. Emily is a very cheerful and sweet child. Even having a rich parents, she still likes sharing
and donating her old stuffs to the homeless kids outside. She may not be that sociable child but everyone knows one
thing about her. That is she looks like her beautiful and loving mother, Kathleen.

It was morning when she first discovered about it. Emily is inside her room waiting for her mom to come over and say
good morning to her as her father goes inside too holding a tray full of breakfast. They always do that every morning
but today it was different. Emily just stayed in her bed still waiting for them, MomDad? she asked while looking
at the ceiling of her room with floral wallpaper. Suddenly the door opened, Hi Emily it was her father, Sorry if
your mom was not around this time. Shes just doing something, He said then smiled at her daughter. Emily rise up
in her bed and look at her father knowing something is wrong, If everything ok dad? Emily asked. Her fathers
expression changed after hearing that question but still he tries to smile to hide whats going on, Of course Emily
then he sit right next to Emily to sing Emilys favourite song. Its a song about a happy family. After the song, Emily
hugs her father, Dad, well be all ok right? Me, you and mom? Emily asked with a big smile in her face. Her father
let a forced smile to her daughter, Of course love. Well be together until youre old enough to have a family, He
said then he kissed Emily in the forehead.

Kathleen, we must go to the hospital now, the father said to his wife while theyre both inside their living room.
Kathleen is sitting on the elegant brown sofa with her husband, Im fine Kathleen said in a low toned voice. Her
husband raises his voice to her, No youre not. Youre coughing blood! We need to go to the hospital now, Her
husband said. Kathleen holds his right hand, What if Emily discovers this? She will be so sad and worried. I dont
want Emily to think about my illness, she said softly, Then we wont tell her when we visit the doctor. And you also
need to take care of yourself for our new son, he said then gave a sweet smile to his wife. Suddenly their daughter
went to the living while holding his worn our teddy bear that she named Nana, Hi mom and dad, Emily said then
she sat down right next to her mom, Well go to a meeting today, love. Me and your mother, Emilys father said to
her, Then Ill be all alone again dad, Emily said making a sad face as she face her parents, Dont worry Emily.
Youll have a friend. Here Ill give you something, Emilys mother said. She stands up then went to the near drawer
to get something. She goes back and gave her a very unique doll that looks like her, Emilys mother. She sat down
right next to Emily, Here you go. I made this doll when youre still a baby, She said then gave her a sweet smile.
Emilys father sat right next to her, Well be here at dinner time, love. Well buy you your favourite bread, Emily
gave them a big smile, Parmesan breakfast bread? I also want a vanilla pudding dad, She said. Her parents nod back
for response then Emily hugged them, Love you mom, she kissed her mothers cheek, Love you dad, she kissed
her fathers cheek, We love you too, Emily, Her father kissed her forehead, Now go play with your new doll and
well come back at dinner time, he said.

Not knowing about Emilys mothers condition, her parents left the house. Saying that theyre going on a meeting but
the truth is that theyre going to the hospital. Emily look at their window as her parents went inside their car, I am all
alone again. But I have this doll that looks like mom, Emily said then she goes to her bedroom to play with her new
toy. She sat on the floor and examine the doll that was given to her, Im going to call you mommy doll because you
look like mom, She said while touching the dolls hair. Emily plays all day with the doll that looks like her mother.
As the sun goes down, she looked at the window to see if her parents was already home, I miss them already, she
signs. As she waits she suddenly fell asleep on the floor while hugging the doll.

While shes sleeping her parents are finally home with the foods she requested, Emily were home! Emilys father
said while carrying a paper bag full of foods and desserts, We bought you something you like dear, Emilys mother
said. There was no response, She must be sleeping. Ill go check her out, her father said. He goes upstairs to go to
Emilys room. When he finally there, he opens the door slowly, Emily? he said softly. Emily was there sleeping
while hugging her new doll. The father enters then goes to her daughter to wake her up, Love, were home, He said
then he released a smile. It took several shake to wake Emily up, Emily, its time to eat dinner now, love, father
said. Emily goes up then scrub her eyes while moaning, Good morning dad, she said. Her father chuckles, Its 8pm
Emily, he said, Ohhbut you should be home at 6pm, Emily said, But we eat dinner around 8pm right? Her
father said smiling. Emily smiled, Yes we do! Lets go down dad. Well eat all together, she said with a big smile on
her face. Her father laugh then he carries Emily, singing a pirate song while going downstairs. Once they are on the
ground floor, they were shook for what they saw, Kathleen! father yelled. He put Emily down and they both rushed
to her. She fainted and laying down on the ground facing down, Is mom ok? Emily asked while holding her
mothers hand, Kath? he said worried. Suddenly her eyes moves, Kadmiel?...Emily??she said, Mom, were
here, Emily said. Her husband, Kadmiel, carries Kathleen then brought her upstairs to the masters bedroom. He lays
down Kathleen to their bed carefully as their daughter watches her weakening mother, Leave me nowYou havent
eaten dinner yet, Kathleen said weakening, Shut up, love! We wont leave you here. You havent eaten yet, her
husband said, We wont leave you mom. Ill get our dinner! Wait mom, dad, Emily said then she rushed downstairs
all the way to their dinning room to get the foods. Then she went back to their room while carrying a tray full of
goodies, Here they are. Lets all eat together here, Emily said then she smiled to her parents.

After a month, Kathleen was rushed to the hospital due her condition. Her mom said it might be because of her being
pregnant but the doctor said that is not the reason. Her condition is being more serious and her baby might be affected.
Weeks later, Kathleen passed away inside the hospital while her husband and daughter were looking after her. It was a
hard and depressing months for Emily especially Kadmiel, her husband. Weeks after the funeral, he acts differently
and ignores to see his daughter for he reasons that, She looks exactly like my wife Thats why he stayed in his office
all day while his daughter goes to his offices front door to wait for him to come out, Dad, lets go out. L-lets go to
our garden? Then tell me the scientific names of the flowers thereDad? Her father never came out.

One day Kadmiel finally decided to come out saying, Im healing little by little. Soon Ill go back to normal When
he saw his daughter she looks different. She looks so pale and thin. He rushed to his weakening daughter on the corner
of the room near his office then hugged her, Emily, I am sorry for letting you- for abandoning you. I am also a
human, love. And living a life without your mom is a difficult life to have. So, w-what do you want? Do you want to
eat to your favourite bakery? Do you want to go to our garden? Tell me, love, Ill take good care of you again,
Kadmiel said to his daughter while he let an honest smile in her face. Suddenly Emily cried while hugging his father,
Dad, can you bring mom back? she asked, I am not a God to have the ability to retrieve someone, EmilyI am
sorry. Even I, I want to bring her back, her father said to her then he kissed Emilys forehead, But I will take good
care of you, ok? Ill be a better father, suddenly, Emily asked something, How about my brother dad? Where is he?
Emily asked while wiping her tears, I-I dont know, love Hes gone just like your mom, Emily suddenly coughs
in front of her father, when all of the sudden, blood came out to her mouth, Are these my saliva? Emily asked then
she looks at her hand. What she saw made her shocked, BLOOD? What? Tears fell to Kadmiels eyes. He holds
Emilys shoulder, Emily look at me! Youre sick and he burst into tears while hes talking to his daughter, We
will heal you ok? I dont wanna lose you too. Youll be fine Emily I promise,

The day after, Kathleens mom visited them after hearing the news about Emilys condition. Kadmiel is the one who
talked to her for Kathleens mom was a doctor, Son, listen. Emily might not handle it. Her body is weak. Those
medications are too strong for her delicate body. Shes only 9 years old, Kadmiel, Grandma said. Kadmiel released
an angry expression, Then what should I do, let her like that?! Let her die? I cant do that mom, he said,

Kadmiels eyes widen, Preserved their body he keeps saying, Yes, but thats impossible. By the way I need to go
now. Let Emily drink these vitamins. It will help a lot, She said smiling then left the house.

Kadmiel rushed to his lab/office after meeting his mother-in-law. He spent hours inside. On that night, he took a break
and checked his daughter. Letting her drink the vitamins her grandma gave, Good night Emily, he said then gave her
a kiss to her forehead.

Weeks later, Emily keeps seeing his uncle, Kay, around the house with animals such as, mouse, hamsters and any
similar species but not knowing the reason why. She approaches her father and uncle outside the house, Are we
having a pet hamster? Emily asked her father, Emily! Go back inside. Animals furs are bad for your lungs, Her
father said, Sorry dad but why do you have so many animals? Emily asked, Love, on your 10th birthday I will tell
you why, Kadmiel said.

Time passes that fast. After Emilys birthday party her dad blindfolded her, Ill give you my present now, he said.
They walk around the house while hes guiding her daughter until theyre in front of the lab/offices door, Ill open
the door now, He said, Dad, I am really excited! Emily said with excitement in her voice. Finally, her father
removes her blindfold. Emily opens her eyes and was shook on what she saw, W-what? Who? Mom? she asked. In
front of her what appears to be mom but looks really lifeless, It looks like the doll mom gave me Emily said then
she walks closer the touched its hand, It feels coldlike a porcelain doll, she said, Is this a human sized doll of
mom? Emily looked up to her dad, Yes! Do you like it Emily? her father asked, Look, she got that beautiful blue
eye like your moms eyes. Those silky and long ,black hair like your mom. You look like exactly like your mom,
Kadmiel said with joyful in his eyes. Emily is being confused and creeped out because of what she saw. Her mom as a
doll, looks alive and human like, T-thanks dad! Emily said with joy but suddenly she coughs, B-blood again
she said sadly. When she faced her father, her father was carrying a syringe, I know youre suffering for months now,
emotionally and physically. I dont wanna lose you Emily, He walks closer and closer to his daughter, I wont die
dad, I promise, Emily said then gave him a smile, Youre body is too weak to handle the medication. You cannot
control death my child, Kadmiel said, With this I can stop aging, I CAN STOP DEATH AND PAIN. I did this for
you and your mom, Emily, Kadmiel said then he grabs Emilys arm, Dad! I dont wanna be a doll! I will live dad. I
can handle the medication dad. I WONT DIE, Emily shouts while trying to get out to his fathers grip, I wont lose
someone whos important to me again. Dont you want to be with your mom? Kadmiel said while holding Emilys
arm. Emily escapes then she run far from her father. Her father follows her whenever she changes location. Suddenly
he grabs her arm again for hes near to her, DadLet go! Emily yelled, Just one injection, love, Kadmiel said
while having a creepy smile. Emily manage to grab the syringe to her fathers arm then she inject it to her fathers
stomach, Oh no! I didnt mean to do that. Dad? she said while still holding the syringe. Her father fell on the floor
as his body turned into a hard material similar to a porcelain, E-EmilyI love you my child. Ill be with your mom
now. Goodbye, Kadmiel said as her hazel brown eyes turned into a glass like material. Emily kneels on the floor
looking at her father, Dad? Dad, are you already gone? Emily said as she looks to her father, Dad Im so sorry. I
am a bad daughterI killed you, Emily cried. She saw the syringe on the floor so she picks it up, If I inject this to
myself, Ill be with you right? Ill be with you and mom. Well be together again. Well be a complete family again!
Emily said with joy. She stands up the wipe her tears, I wont die because Ill be a doll. My body will be preserved,
she looks at the syringe, Mom and dad, well be together again, she said then she injected the syringe. A strange
feeling crawls to her body. As that weird feeling was about to reach her neck she remembers something, Why most of
the dolls doesnt smile? If Ill create my own doll it should always smile, so she smiled until the hardening feeling
occupies her. She now turned into a doll just like her mom and dad. All together inside their house.
