In Mrs. Lewiss class, a one-pager is a one-page response to a piece of
literature (poem, essay, article, chapter of a book, etc.), a piece of music, or a work of art. One-pagers may be assigned as classwork or homework. They allow you to respond to and communicate your understanding of the writing/music/art in a creative way, while pushing you to communicate succinctly and honestly. by Unknown Author is licensed under Criteria for One-Pagers: They must be one page only (standard 8 x 11 or standard construction paper). They must include the title of the piece(s) to which you are responding. They should be visually appealing and rich with words and images. (Include color.) Sometimes you will be given special instructions for a particular one-pager assignment. If you are not given special instructions for a particular one-pager assignment, you should choose 2 or more of the following activities/components to include: o Quote(s) or phrase(s) that stood out to you. (These can be written anywhere on the paper. You are encouraged to experiment with color, font and writing styles.) o Quote(s) from something or someone else that remind you of this writing/song/artwork. o A visual image (photograph, drawing, magazine clipping or an image printed from an online source) that helps to create a visual focus for the one-pager. o Question(s) that you think the reader/listener/viewer should ask in response to the particular writing/music/art. Include the answer(s) somewhere on the paper unless the question is one you think is significant but do not know how to answer. o Description or representation of the emotional response you had to this writing/song/art. o Connections you make between this and something you have experienced in your own life or something you have read about/heard/watched at some point in the past. o Brief, objective critique of the writing/song/art
