Annabelle Creation
In 2013 The Conjuring was released into theaters and became a hit. Personally it
is one of my favorite horror films. It did not take long after the success of The Conjuring
for the spinoff Annabelle to come out. The original Annabelle was horrific in its own
way. It was never scary, the film lacked depth and forget about any kind of character
development. Luckily the newest installment in The Conjuring universe is nothing like
its predecessor.
Sandberg, the man who also directed Lights Out. David did what I thought was
impossible. He created a film that is a prequel to another prequel, and his film was
The story follows many young girls and a nun who enter a dollmakers house years
after the tragic death of his daughter. The dollmaker allows these girls to stay with him
as his house provides a temporary orphanage. The main protagonist is Janice a young
girl who is different from the other girls. She goes into the rooms that she is not
supposed to in the house and finds the Annabelle doll, the terror arrives shortly after.
Annabelle Creation builds a tense atmosphere and truly scary moments. Dark
hallways fill the scene in many moments. The camera never cuts when a scary moment
is about to be delivered. These elements together create a great horror movie, one that
It seems as though every series has its own universe and now The Conjuring is no
different. The way this film connects to the others is brilliant with references to The Nun
an antagonist from The Conjuring 2. The Nun will also become its own film in the
Conjuring Universe in the years to come. Annabelle Creation even offers an ending that
character development, and unique story that is different from the other Conjuring
films. Overall Annabelle Creation was a good film and definitely worth a watch if you
are a fan of the new Conjuring universe. This film is truly a great addition into that
