Aint No Mountain High Enough

It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.

He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places. Psalm 18:32-33 (NKJV)
A few years ago, I experienced my dream vacation, an eleven-day Hawaiian cruise. It was a spectacular adventure that left me in awe of
Gods creation. The scenery in the Aloha state was simply breathtaking.
In Maui, a group of us rented an SUV with the intent of experiencing an incredible afternoon of sightseeing. The rental car attendant
presented us with a map, highlighting a popular scenic route. Trusting his suggestion, we took off on our journey with cameras in hand;
ready to capture the remarkable splendor of God in the form of a snapshot.
The road led us to the base of a mountain. Everyone oohed and awed as our spirits rose like the land before us. Part way up the
mountainside, however, the laughter, chatter and excitement began to fade. The wide roads had suddenly turned into two narrow lanes.
Shortly thereafter, we came upon a sign that read: CAUTION: Falling Rocks. Within minutes, we did indeed experience large rocks
tumbling onto the road. Yet, the most memorable sign had no words at all. It simply displayed a series of zigzag lines, indicating that we
were about to experience intense winding roads ahead. A couple of my friends strongly suggested that we turn around while we still had a
chance, but the group consensus was to continue onward.
Tension escalated as the mountains two narrow lanes suddenly merged into a single road. To add to our heart-racing escapade, a single
car was slowly approaching. On our right, there were tall, jagged mountains. We nervously looked to our left and noticed a steep drop-
offwith no guardrail. With a lot of prayer, sweat and careful maneuvering, we were able to get around the car. As frightening as this
experience was, we knew there was no turning back. We had to complete our excursion around the mountain.
After what seemed like an eternity, finally, we reached the top. With wobbly legs, we stepped outside of the SUV giving God an
abundance of thanks and praise. Once we got over the trauma of our adventure, we looked around. For miles in all directions, was the
most magnificent panorama of greenery, streams and waterfalls. To this day, the memory of that exquisite sight warms my soul and
reminds me that the experience was worth every hurdle and every peril.
At times, while on our spiritual walk we may feel as though we are traveling along a narrow, winding mountain road with various risks
and tests along the way. We start our journey with joy and enthusiasm and then it happenswe are surrounded by obstacles and
challenges.
During times like these, keeping the faith when confronted with mountain-like circumstances can stagger the most vigilant Christian.
Nevertheless, we must know that it is God who gives us the strength to climb. He makes our way perfect, helping us to reach our high
places. God knows the roads we will travel, the opposition we will meet, but He also knows the victories we will greet when we make it
to the top.
With God there is no mountain that is too high; therefore, my brothers and sisters in Christ, keep traveling. You have some high places to
reach It is well worth the journey.
