Competition Rules and Mechanics


- These rules and mechanics apply to the Intersection First Aid and
Marching Competition ( WRC ) organized by Chung Hua Red Crescent
Youth Unit No.34 which will be held in August at Headquarter (HQ).

- The official language for the competition is ENGLISH and MALAY.

Participating / Competing Teams

- Each team shall be composed of 4 competing members and 1 reserved


member, which will make up a total of 5 compulsory members per team.

- Each team is allowed to have only 2 form 2 members. Shall there be more
than 2 form 2 members in the group found, the team will be disqualified
immediately.

- Application requirement forms. In order to be registered as a contestant in


the competition, each team and team member shall complete and submit
the following form and documentary requirements:
Team registration form (as attached)

Failure to submit the team registration form will be not qualified as the
competing team.

- Non-qualified individuals. The following shall not be eligible as a member


of a competing team:
Form 3 members
Form 5 members
AJKs
Students who are not studying in SMK Chung Hua Miri currently

Uniform and identification

- All team members are required to wear :


First day : Full Uniform
Second day : Red Crescent T shirt with long pants
Third day : Full Uniform

- Identification cards ( ID ) will be provided to team members upon


registration. The ID cards should be worn at all times during the event.
Penalty will be given those groups who failed to do so.
Fine of RM 10 will be penalized to individuals who lost the
Identification card ( ID )

First Aid Techniques

- Competing teams shall only demonstrate those skills require for


immediate first aid at the scene. Any display of additional skills (such as
oxygen therapy, taking blood pressure, etc ) is not required and shall not
be awarded as additional marks for the team.

- First aid kits will be prepared by the organizing committee.

- The content of First Aid Kits shall be prepared by the competing team by
their own.

- It shall be the responsibilities of each team to have their own refill kits
with them before proceeding to the next test scenario. ( Please find the
suggested minimum contents of First Aid Kits at the attachment.)

The First Aid Competition

- The event shall consist of marching, test scenarios, quiz bee and relay
which shall be developed by the event technical committee utilizing as
reference the following :
First Aid Manual ( British 9th Revised Edition and 10th Edition)
First Aid In The Community
Materials given during activity of CHRCYU No.34

- The event shall consist of the following components:


Uniform Inspection
Marching
Quiz Bee
Bandaging & Immobilizing Relay
Community Based Team Test
Traditional Based Team Test

The mark weightage for each component will be briefed during the
official briefing prior to the competition which the date will be
announced later.

Please refer to the following pages for details of the test scenarios, quiz
bee and bandaging & immobilizing relay.

- Except for the competition officials, NO Person shall be permitted to


have any contact with the members of the team once they have entered into
the isolation area until the completion of the event.

- NO team members shall be allowed to carry mobile phones, handheld


radios and any other communication devices within the competition area.
A spot check will be conducted prior to the competition. Shall there be any
communication devices found, the team will be disqualified immediately.

DETAILS OF THE EVENTS COMPONENTS


1. Marching
- The marching is a team event consists of 2 sections which are the Team Presentation
and the Personal Drill.
Team Presentation
o Each team is given 10 minutes to perform all the basic skills of marching.
o All the skills performed must be based on the CHRCYU marching techniques.
Other marching techniques that are not officiated by the CHRCYU will not be
awarded marks.
o Competing team is allowed to perform BUNGAS officiated by the CHRCYU.
( please refer to the executive committee on bungas )
o Members MUST master well the basic skills of marching before performing
bungas as marks awarded mostly prior to the basic skills of marching.

Personal Drill
The Team Leader ( No. 1 ) will have to perform all the RIGHT commands from
Judges. Marks will ONLY be awarded for right performance of commands and
the ability to obey commands given. No additional marks will be given for any
bungas performed by Team Leader unless required by judges.

2. Quiz Bee
- The quiz bee is a team event whereby all team members can participate ( which
includes the reserved member ). This will be done simultaneously with other
participating teams.
- There will be 40 multiple choice questions to be asked by the quiz bee master. The
questions will be prepared in ENGLISH and will be focusing mainly on first aid
questions and general knowledge only.
- Each team will be provided with a set of flash cards with a corresponding level
written to it A, B, C, and D. The flash cards will be used by the teams in answering
the questions.
- The Quiz Bee Master will be reading each question ONCE . Each team must answer
each question within 10 seconds. After 10 seconds countdown, the flash cards with
the corresponding letter of their answer must be in the hands of designated official
(assigned to each team ).
- The quiz bee master will read out the right answer after all the cards are in the hands
of the respective officials. Teams with correct answer will be immediately
acknowledged and recorded in the score board / sheet.

3. Bandaging and Immobilizing Relay


- There will be 1 station on Bandaging Relay and 1 station on Immobilizing Relay.
- The team will be presented with 10 tasks per station to be completed within 10
minutes per station.
- Reserved member will be the casualty for their own team in this category.
- Upon completion of the bandaging and immobilizing task, SAY DONE ! AND THE
PLAYER MUST IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE BANDAGES WITH THE ASSISTANCE
FROM THE RESERVED MEMBER. ONCE THE BANDAGES ARE BEEN REMOVED, THE
PLLAYER THEN WILL REJOIN THE TEAM.
- Where a team member is unable to perform the given task, no marks will be
awarded. He has to rejoin the team and the next team member will come forward
for the same task. If the whole team is unable to perform the designated task, the
team shall proceed with the next task given.

4. Traditional Based Team Test


- 2 scenarios will be presented to each team.
- 10 minutes for each team to response to the team test collectively. The team will
decide on their approaches to the response.
- Ambulance will only arrive 5 minutes after a call has been made.
- There will be no transportation into the ambulance however, every team should
transport the casualty onto the stretcher and show the method of lifting the
casualty.
- The resuscitation method will be based on American Heart Association guideline
2010.
- Additional questions / tasks will be directed to the team leader.
- Reserved number is allowed to take part in this category.

5. Community Based Team Test


- 2 or 3 scenarios will be presented to each team.
- 10 minutes for each team to response to the team test collectively. The team will
decide on their approaches to the response.
- Additional questions / tasks may be directed to the team leader.
- Reserved member is allowed to take part in this category.
