school. My mom knew the importance of doing well then so that my transition into high school
would go smoothly. Therefore, one of the things that she would always do was throw away any
of my papers that had sloppy hand writing. This process would make me so frustrated because no
matter how much work was on that sheet of paper, if it was sloppy hand writing, I would have to
rewrite everything. Although I have not yet come to appreciate her throwing away my work, I do
believe that is why my handwriting is much neater than what it would have been.

asked is, How are you doing? Most peoples go to response is, I am doing good. However,
that question is no longer that simple for me due to a long-winded lecture on the difference
between responding good and well. Although the word well is an adverb which modifies other
adverbs, verbs, and adjectives and the word good is an adjective which describes nouns, both
subsequent responses to the well renown question are technically grammatically correct.
However, my teachers preference was for the response to be, I am well. Ever since that day
whenever I hear that question my mind automatically goes back to that lecture taught by my
