Welcome to Flora D. Hendley Elementary School! I am Ms. Reid and
I am so excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year! This is my third year at Hendley. I have previously served as a Pre-k teaching fellow at a DC charter school in Ward 8. Additionally, I have worked as an instructional aide in a self-contained autism classroom at Tyler Elementary. My undergraduate studies in Political Science allowed me to secure an internship with Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton. I am currently completing my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Trinity Washington University. I enjoy walking my pitbull, Missy, kickboxing and cooking. Kindergarten is such an exciting year of growing and learning. My major goals for this year is that students will always feel comfortable to take risks while learning from their peers. I want to promote imagination and creativity in math, reading, science and play.
Your interest, and support will help make this a
wonderful year of growth for you and your child. Let's work on establishing routines and goals for your child this year.
Hendley's Open House is on Wednesday August, 16th from 4
to 7 pm. If you are unable to attend or would like to conference individually or before the school year begins. Please contact me at 301-675-1662.
I am looking forward to meeting you and your child this year!
