DIrect Instruction
Direct instruction is a instructional design model for classroom teaching
with explicit curriculum design and delivery. It often includes teaching from
a script and is skill focused, with assessment for learning.
It can be helpful for students who are low achieving, english language
learners, and students from diverse backgrounds.
Three important components of direct instruction are:
1. Program Design - how to create instruction that will develop the
necessary skills in students.
2. Instructional Organization - how will the content be delivered?
3. Student Teacher Interactions - what will students need to do to learn
the content.
