Version 3.x introduces new technology that delivers up to 8x increase in simulation speed. Please see the release notes for more information. If you are an existing user, your current license file is fully compatible with the new release (just copy your: existing license file from /bin/symphonyalic to the new installation directory /bin) ‘This download supports all editions (FREE, demo/trial and standard editions) of VHDL Simi 3.0/3.1. If you download Version 3.0, use the Licensing Wizard (available after installation) to download a free license. This FREE license file that ships with Version 3.1 expires on October 1 2012. Newer bullds/releases may extend the FREE licenses beyond this date. Existing users can use the Licensing Wizard to extend their FREE license OR download and install the newest build and copy over the file /bin/freelic.txt to /bin/symphony.lic. 14 Standard/Professional Editions: Requires a license purchase. Your license file is issued via the Licensing Wizard that is launched from within Sonata -- the Graphical User Interface. © Trial or Demo mode: Enables standar¢ edition or the professional edition for a limited amount of time, By default it allows an evaluation period of 21 days. This downloaded file includes software for all editions (demo, standard, professional, etc.) VHDL Simili 3.1 Bulld#16 -- Windows (~9.2MB) or Linux (~9.4§B) VALID FOR ALL EDITIONS Note: Symphony EDA has an agressive update policy. At Symphony EDA, we pride ourselves for providing very fast responses times -- within one business day in most cases. ‘Step 2: Install the software Windows: Simply run the downloaded EXE file and follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard (you will need administrative privileges on Windows 2000/XP). Linux: Untar and run the install script as shown below. It is very important that you follow the instructions to change your environment (.bashrc, .profile, cshrc, etc.) printed during installation. You can be logged in as any user so long as you have write permission to the installation directory, tar xvf /instail.sh ‘Step 3: Request demo/full licenses if this is your first download (not required for free-version unless your free license has expired or lost) If this is your first time installing the software and if you are planning on using the graphical features of VHDL Simili, you will have to request licenses from the Symphony EDA license fulfillment server. This is entirely automated. It will save you the manual step of installing the license file if you run this Licensing Wizard while logged in as the user who installed the software or a user who has write permission to the installation directory. Please follow the instructions below (assuming you have already installed VHDL Simil}) Windows: Run "seast->Synphony EDA-DVEDL Simili 3,0->License Managerent- >symphony EDA Liconsing Wizard" of, you can also do "s:art->Run" and then enter "sonata -L" as the command to run. Unix/Linux: Run the command "sonata -L' after you have mosified your environment according to the installation instructions. ‘Step 4: First time users only Symphony EDA highly recommends running the tutorials. For users of Sonata (the GUI), please follow the instructions in Chapter 8 of the accompanying documentation, This tut Is designed to teach you the features of Sonata in a very short amount of time (15-30, minutes). For users of the command-line tools, there are simple tutorials available in /examples/index htm. Linux Information: Symphony EDA does mast of its testing on RedHat systems (7.1 or higher). We have reports of VHDL Simili working with other distributions (SuSE, Mandrake, ete.).
