The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) was established on 8th June,
1993 as the regulator of the countrys capital market through enactment of the Securities and
Exchange Commission Act 1993. Through an amendment of the Securities and Exchange
Commission Act, 1993, on December 10, 2012

The words Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission were substituted for
the words Securities and Exchange Commission by section 2, by section 6(a) in
Title, by section 6(c) in Commencement, section 6(b) in Definition, by section 7 in
Establishment of the Commission of the Securities and Exchange Commission
(Amendment) No. XLV of 2012) in year 2012
Clause (f) Composition of the Commission was omitted by section 6(d) of the
Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No.XLV of
2012).
The word whole time were omitted from .Disqualification of the Chairman by
section 3 & section 4 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act,
2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
The word four years as a time period of a Chairman were substituted for the word
three years by section 8 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment)
Act, 2012 (Act No. XLV of 2012).
The word Commissioners in Composition of the Commission was substituted for the
word Members by section 4 of the Securities and Exchange Commission
(Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
The word in the post of the commissioner was substituted for the word
Membership by section 4 of the Securities and Exchange Commission
(Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No. XLV of 2012).
In Meetings of the Commission chapter Sub-sections (2) and (3) were substituted
for original sub-sections (2) and (3) by section 5 of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Clauses (ii) and (iii) in Functions of the Commission were inserted by section 9(a)
& section 9(b) of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000
(Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Clause (b) in Functions of the Commission was substituted for original clause (b)
by section 6 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000
(Act No. XXIII of 2000).

Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Clauses (ii) and (iii) were inserted by section 9(a) of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Both Sub-section (3) & Section 9A under Appointment of officers and employees
was added by section 10(b) & by section 11 respectively of the Securities and
Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No. XLV of 2012).
The words special direction in policy matters in Accounts and audit, Reports,
Delegation of powers were substituted for the words special direction by section
13 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No.
XLV of 2012).
17A and 17B in Accounts and audit, Reports, Delegation of powers were inserted
by section 3 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 1997
(Act No. VII of 1997).
The words not less than one lac in Punishment Chapter were substituted for words
not exceeding one lac by section 11 of the Securities and Exchange Commission
(Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Section 24 of Power to make regulations part was substituted for original section
24 by section 14 of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000
(Act No. XXIII of 2000).
Section 26A in Power to remove difficulties part was inserted by section 15 of the
Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Act, 2000 (Act No. XXIII if
2000).
