Socio-economic situation

Bac Ninh province belongs to the Northern region of Vietnam. It is only 30 km away from the center of
Hanoi and is considered a gateway to the capital city. It borders Hanoi to the West and South West,
borders Hai Duong to the East and South East, borders Hung Yen to the South. Bac Ninh lies within the
important economic zone: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh with the area of 803.9 km2.

The natural area of Bac Ninh only accounts for 0.2% the total area of the country and it is the smallest
province of Vietnam. According to the survey on the natural land area of Bac Ninh, as of 2014, 57.7% of
the provinces area is agriculture land; 41.6% is non-agriculture land and 0.7% is unused land. Currently,
Bac Ninh has 8 municipals including Bac Ninh city, Tu Son
