What do we remember from Oscars 2017?

1 - Epic Oscars mistake

We almost thought, that this year, no mistake was made during the ceremony Except
the announce of the most anticipated moment of the evening, representing the bigger
audience too, the best picture winner announcement. After Warren Beatty spent 10
seconds looking the Winners card and give it to his co-presenter Faye Dunamay, who
announced proudly La La Land as the big winner of the night, we assisted to one of the
most awkward scene in the Oscars history. After all the films team went on stage and gave
requisite effusive speeches, which were interrupted by a scarcely believable correction,
Moonlight was actually the Best Picture winner. Epic fail or how to create a gigantic buzz,
you decide.

2 - History made Oscars History

Barry Jenkins is the first Afro-American to have directed an Oscar winning film (Steve
McQueen being British), and the structure of the movie and the subject as a whole - the
story of a young black homosexual in three periods of his life - was a big premiere for the
Oscars.
Marhershala Ali is the winner for Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in
Moonlight. He became the first Muslim to win an Oscar. And Viola Davis, became the first
Afro-American actress nominated for three Oscars, but also to win an Emmy, a Tony and
now an Oscar, for her performance in Fences.

3 - The powerful protest of Asghar Farhadi

The Iranian filmaker won the Foreign Language Film Oscar for his movie The Client. But
this year, he decided not to assist to the ceremony by compassion for Iran and against
Trumps immigration decree. However, he left a very meaningful note, I'm sorry I'm not
with you tonight. My absence is out of respect for the people of my country, and those of
other six nations, whom have been disrespected by the inhumane law that bans entry of
immigrants to the U.S.
4 - The polemic victory of Casey Affleck
Bens little brother won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Manchester By The
Sea. But when he went on stage to get his prize, the applauses were not really
unanimous, without mentioning the social networks storm that follows. Indeed, Casey
Affleck was accused of sexual harassment by two different women. Brie Larson, a real
committed feminist who was the one chosen to announce the winner and give the trophy
to him, didnt seem really happy and even didnt applause at all after he grabbed it.

5 - Jimmy Kimmels surprise to a tourists group

While they were doing a guided tourist tour in Los Angeles, where the Oscars ceremony
were happening, these lucky people were unknowingly brought in the middle of the Dolby
Theater during the ceremony and found themselves facing the biggest Hollywood stars.
The visitors took a moment to understand what was happening before Jimmy Kimmel
introduced the the front row celebrities to them. Some of them did not even look up from
their phones as they were too busy taking selfies.
