Forward Converter

Procedure:
1. Create a Forward Converter Circuit just as shown in the figure above.

2. The flyback converter stored in Simetrix can be used to easily construct this circuit. Just
add the diode and the inductor located at the secondary stage of the circuit.

3. Edit the configuration of the transformer.

4. Then choose analysis. Go to simulator > choose analysis > check the box beside transient
analysis. Then set stop time to 10m.

5. Then start measuring current and voltages on each component. First, place a voltage
probe at the node at top of the Vp terminal of the IC. This will show the input voltage of
the circuit. This could also be done at the end of the experiment to compare the input and
output voltage.

6. Next, place a current probe at the primary inductor. Also, place a current probe at the
secondary inductor. This will measure the current at each inductor, and it will also show
the behavior of current for each inductor. (Note: After observing each component, the
probe can be removed to observe behavior of other components.)

7. Place a current probe at the secondary inductor. Also put current probe at the primary
diode and the inductor close to the load. Observe the behavior of current.

8. Place a current probe at the freewheeling diode (secondary diode). Also, place current
probe at the primary diode and inductors. Observe the behavior of current through the
freewheeling diode. Compare it to the current at the secondary inductor.

9. Place a current probe at the load. Place a voltage probe at the output node shown in the
figure. Compare the input and output voltage and current.
