I know that we live out our lives in a hurriedly fashion. We have so many places to
be, and so little time to actually enjoy any of them. In this lifestyle that we have
created, we have inadvertently allowed ourselves to succumb to one of the worlds
greatest attributes. What is it? A thought process that slowly penetrates the thoughts, actions, and even the
prayers of the many today. What is it? A belief that life is all about me!
Bear with me for moment. While this article is aimed to fall upon the shoulders of those that proclaim
themselves to be a follower of Christ, it should be noted that this is just the right thing to do. If you are a
Christian, then you have no excuse to be Clueless to anything that pertains to a requirement of God. For
instance, the prophet Isaiah says, But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in
spirit and trembles at my word. Have we missed something? How have we allowed ourselves to depart so
far from such a text? Maybe we misunderstood Him? What about when Jesus said, Truly, I say to you,
unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Oh I see, I should
be hateful, self reliant, proud, and disrespectful? NO! That is a teaching that comes from mind of those
who seek not to please God. So, what happened?
We have taken our eye off the prize We have fallen to the ways and schemes of the greatest of liars We as
Christians have taken the bait dangled from the lines of too many Hollywood movies. We have allowed
ourselves to be taken hostage, and sadly, we are content to remain. The Stockholm Syndrome has taken
full affect (where one begins to align themselves with their captures). So, how do we change things? Can we
do anything today to make it better?
In the opening remarks of Romans chapter 12, Paul makes a monumental statement that destroys these
holier/better than thou actions. Paul says, For by the grace given to me I say to EVERYONE among you
NOT to think of himself more highly than he ought to think He would again in his letter to the
Philippian church offer divine words that should be embraced by any God-fearing Christian. He says, But
in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe its time to rethink
our portrayal of ourselves to those that surround us. Dont be found guilty of being CLUELESS.
