Likewise, singers should not only warm-up their voices, but they should focus their minds on the piece of music they are about to sing. Following are some guidelines that should be helpful in preparing to sing a new piece of music Nee ‘All suggestions listed below are based on the music theory information presented in Unit 3, The Materials of Music Identify the key of the music. Find out if the piece is in major, minor or some other mode or scale. Sing the scale and the tonic triad on which the piece iS based using either solfege or numbers.
