1) What do I want to write about? It has to be something that piques my interest.

a. A story with a heart, a story that touches

b. I want it to be a funny and romantic story that has characters with beautiful and
colorful personalities
c. I want it touch peoples hearts; it has to be something they can relate to
d. I want people to fall in love with the characters. I want them to involuntarily close
their eyes with emotion as they read my story.
2) Who is my character? He has to be flawed and full of surprises.
a. My character will be based on my life, of course, with variations here and there
b. My flaws will become my characters flaws, my problems become his problems and
my anxieties become his anxieties.
c. I never told anybody this
i. Im sad. The life I wanted is not the life I currently have
ii. I feel lonely. Yes, I have my brother and mother and to a certain extent, my
father. But there are times when I feel that I dont have enough friends and
Im not close enough to the ones I already have.
iii. I tend to be lazy.
iv. There are times I shy away from problems. I try to hide from them.
v. I lie. A lot. I think this is rooted with my disappointment of the life that I
have. I want to show and tell others that I am someone they should look up
to and be proud of when the fact is I cant get myself to be proud of me.
vi. My deepest fear is to disappoint my family, especially my father.
vii. There are times I give in to peer-pressure. My opinions can be easily swayed
at times.
viii. I feel that I am capable of more than what I have been doing. I believe that
despite all my flaws and mistakes, there is always that one point in my life
when things will just fall into place and Ill be just fine.
ix. I am a hopeless romantic. I easily fall in love. I dream of a life that I want yet
could not or would not attain. I imagine myself with all these people that
love and adore me, that are impressed by me. I imagine myself in that made-
up world where I am better than who I really am.
3) What is my characters big problem? What are the obstacles and barriers he has to push
through?
4) Make things happen! Events should unfold around and with my character.
5) Make it believable. Give reasons behind certain actions, backstories for characters, etc
6) Stick with it! Dont give up. Finish the project.
