RESUMEN Mediante esta investigacin se pretencié demostrar la utilidad de la técnica Payne para diagnosticar egluciones atipicas, compardndolas con el méto- do convencional de Moyers. Se analizé la relacién existente entre ambas téeni- cas, conel inde fomentar el uso dela técnica Payne ‘como método confiable y préctico en la evaluacién de la deglucion, en el examen odontolégico. El estudio de corte transversal de cardcterinferen- cial 0 concluyente incluyé 74 nifos, entre 6 y 10 hos, de ambos sexos. Cada paciente tuvo una evaluacién que incluyé: + Posicién de la lengua mediante la técnica Payne + Anélisis de deglucién con la técnica convencio- ral. Each patient was evalua ted in order to determine tongue position by means of the Payne technique and the conventional method.
