Sexually Transmitted Diseases Project

You will be researching and reporting on the common sexually transmitted diseases. Here is a list of the
diseases from which to choose:

Bacterial Vaginosis HPV Mycoplasma genitalium


Chlamydia PID Pubic lice
Gonorrhea Syphilis Scabies
Hepatitis Trichomoniasis Zika
Herpes Chancroid EBV Epstein-Barr virus
HIV LGV Other- toxic shock syndrome

Make a presentation about the disease you have chosen.


You will research these topics, both in our textbook (Chapter 20, section 3, page 485), KidsHealth.org, and
CDC.gov are all great sources from which to start your investigation, but you are not limited to these sources.

You will find the following information for a presentation:


1. What type of pathogen is it (virus, bacteria, protozoa, etc.)?
2. What are the symptoms?
3. What are the long-term effects to both males and females of the disease?
4. What treatment can you get for it?
5. What can you do to prevent getting it?
6. Where and when have there been reported outbreaks of it?
7. Cite your sources in the MLA format.

You may do a Google slides presentation, a poster, or a video or print PSA for this project.

To get a 3 you must:


Answer all the questions accurately as they pertain to your topic
Pronounce all terms correctly in your presentation
Cite your sources properly (MLA format)
Complete the project on time
