Democritus

Democritus was born in Abdera, he was known as the genius because he wrote about 60

work on a vast majority of topics, Democritus brought the idea of Atoms and that everything

is made from Atoms colliding. He gave nature of qualities: sweets, hot, cold, and wet. Then

he said that to know whether Atoms exist or not it is depth because they are really small

Truth is in depth, he said as well that self-control and tranquility the important and that self-

control increases pleasure.

Anaxagoras

Different from Greek philosophers Anaxagoras did not take Greek pride and rather said that

everyone is a citizen from the universe. He stated that bones are made from 4 parts fire, 2

parts water, and 2 parts earth. He believes that things did not transform and that everything

is made from everything and that things are different because they have more of that thing.

Anaxagoras was the first philosopher to differ mind from matter (teleological principle).

Anaxagoras said that mind is the one who controls universe and that the matter was set by

universe at the beginning. Also that the universe developed by mechanical and physical

laws.

Paramides

He argues that the reality is an illusion and that everything is the same, there are no different

thing, our senses are the ones that make us believe that things are different from each other.
There can't be something that does not exist if you can think it then it does exist; becoming

is an incoherent concept

Empedocles

Another philosopher from the pre-Socratic proposed two forces, love and strife. They are the

bonding forces of the universe. Love is in charge of attraction of different forms of matter.

While love attracts, strife separates forms of matter. He taught that love and strife co-exist in

the universe and they were rest with no mixture and separation. The power of love

predominates and strife separate from love, since that day the universe came to existence.

The world now is full of constant and oppositions.
