Kin A social construction of who to depend on and who will take care of you
Fictive kin Not related to you but like family (For example: God parents and family friends)
Consanguine Related by blood
Affine Related by marriage
Polygamy Plural Marriage
Poly(gyn)y One man married to more than one woman
Polyandry One woman married to more than one man
Bride wealth When the husbands family gives a gift of wealth to the bridges family
Bride Service When the husband works for abridges family for a set amount of time
Levirate The replacement for a husband if he passes away
Sororate The replacement for a wife if she passes away
