BELWIN YOUNG BAND CARNIVAL Bb Clarinet Solo with Band Accompaniment FRANCOIS COUPERIN Arranged by Frank Erickson and JAMES D, PLOYHAR PROGRAM NOTES: CARNIVAL in a simple but delightful melody by the 17th century French composer, Francois Couperin. This arrangement showcases the talents of a clarinet soloist. There are no technical challenges for the young musician, and the result is a very playable and listenable piece from the classics. NOTE TO CONDUCTOR: The challenge in performing this arrangement is to keep the accompani- ment soft so that the young soloist can be heard. At number [25] the accom- paniment is tutti, but the musicians must judge their dynamic level by the ound of the soloist and the acoustics of the room. This plece offers a wonder- ful opportunity to feature a young musician as a soloist.
