Data Analysis:

Pre-test

My class consists of 26 AC students. We do have AC and we cluster in our

grade level.

I pre-tested Weather/Water our first Science unit.

All 26 students showed a weakness in the area of fronts and air masses. All
students missed at least 5 of the 7 questions on this content. The 20 of the
students showed mastery of the remaining weather content on the pre-test.

Based on this data I created a unit on fronts and air masses. That is what we
focused on. The students added some notes on the water cycle and types of
precipitation.

Post-test

I gave a post test that was much more application and evaluative. All the
students showed a complete understanding of fronts, pressure systems, and
the weather they bring.

The only errors were small. About 5% of the students had the front symbol
facing and/or traveling in the wrong direction. I didnt address this during the
unit very much. But in reflecting on this, I remember the students asking a lot
of questions about how and why these systems travel.

I feel that this unit was very successful in addressing the weak areas I was able
to pin point through the pre-test.
