PRESENT SIMPLE

Remind students of the following rules.


1) Add -s to the verb if the subject is a singular noun or he/she/it in an affirmative sentence.

2) Put dont/doesnt before the verb to make a negative sentence.

3) Put Do/Does at the beginning of the sentence to make a question.

4) Use the simple form of the verb after Do/Does in a question and dont/doesnt in a negative sentence.

5) Put the frequency adverb beforethe verb or after Be.

PRESENT CONTINIUS

Go through the chart together and explain that the present continuous tense is made up of Be and the main verb
ending in -ing: Be + verb ~ing.

Explain that -ing is added to most verbs. If a verb ends in a vowel +consonant + e, remove e and add -ing. If a
verb ends in a vowel +consonant, double the consonant
and add -ing.

The time expressions used with the present continuous tense: now, at the moment, today, tonight, tomorrow,
this Saturday, this weekend, and next week.
