Note 2) DFC3000G & DFC7000T requires a USB3.0 interface and will not work
with USB2.0 interfaces.
Note 3) DMC4500 will work on USB 2 Interfaces but with only 1 image format
available (Full Frame)
The Web Sharing module does not support USB 2 or USB 3 cameras
LAS only supports the cameras listed in the table above. Other cameras are not
supported
LAS supports the use of multiple Leica cameras, with the same interface
type, connected to the same system. FireWire A and FireWire B cameras
can be used together. LAS does not support mixing FireWire and USB2.0 or
USB 3.0 interface cameras on the same system at the same time. Note:
only one camera can be active at a time.
Multiple Leica DFC500 and DFC550 cameras connected to the same system
are not supported
LAS V4.7

Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, 32 or 64-bit.
Microsoft Office
Where applications require Microsoft Word or Excel, then Office 2003 or later
must be used.
Multi-lingual support:
Windows 8 may require the download of a language pack either direct from
the Control Panel or via the Microsoft Download Center
Processor:
For optional modules and for processing large image stacks, 8 GB or more of
system RAM is highly recommended.
Hard Drive:
Monitors:
Dual Monitors:
Graphics:
128Mb Ram minimum for single monitor or 256Mb Ram for dual monitor.
Shared memory is not recommended. PCI Express.
32 bits operation.
The minimum graphics adaptors are the Radeon X800, ATI Fire GL V7200 and
recommended adaptors are NVidia GeForce 9800GT, ATI FirePro V480O or
equivalent using the PCI Express bus or later models.
Select High quality or Optimal quality where Direct 3D options are offered
by the graphics card and not Balanced which appears by default.
The latest graphics drivers must be installed. Obtain these from the PC or
graphics board manufacturer, not Microsoft Corp. Not all graphics boards are
compatible with all features of LAS. If it is found that some graphics elements
do not appear or are corrupted, exchange the graphics board.
External Connectors
USB camera.
Microscope.
Other Components
Keyboard and PC Mouse with wheel. The wheel should also act as a third
button.
Full-height card slots for optional interface boards e.g. Oasis. The slot next to
the Oasis board needs to be free or at least the next board must have low
profile components.
Depending on the type of camera, a powered 1394b 9-pin FireWire OHCI port
is required for use with Leica DFC cameras. As FireWire interface boards from
some manufacturers have issues with non-Leica drivers, we recommend the
use of the FireWire boards in the list below.
Please note that you will also need the FireWire -B-B cable 11 600 269, if both
camera and PC have a 1394b (FireWire -B) connector.
All DFC cameras are now supplied with a suitable FireWire -B board and
FireWire -B-B cable.
Notebook Computers
Notebooks are normally designed for power saving rather than performance
and so it is necessary to be careful in identifying suitable configurations. A
true desktop replacements using desktop components in a movable but heavy
case is required and should be compared with the Desktop specification above.
Some Notebooks have automatic power saving features. Please be aware that
LAS cannot control these and if they become activated, the performance of LAS
will be very poor as will other programs.
Notebooks cannot be fitted with the Oasis XYZ control board so cannot be used
with LAS Power Mosaic, LAS Cleanliness Expert, LAS, when a motorised stage
or focus are to be used and are connected to an Oasis XYZ control board.
Otherwise the recommended processor is the Intel Core i7 with speed greater
than 2.0GHz. As Notebook configured processors use a slower memory bus and
slower hard-drives, the overall performance is not as good as the Desktop
equivalents.
The smaller screen size of Notebooks may not be comfortable for use with
high-resolution images. Make sure that the vertical resolution is at least 1024
lines because many Notebooks have lower vertical resolution that limits the
image size and panel display. It helps to place the taskbar on the left edge of
the screen to avoid loss of vertical resolution.
For Notebooks it is important to ensure that the display does not use an
integrated graphics controller. This will severely restrict live image
performance. A dedicated and modern graphics controller is needed such as
NVidia Quadro NVS 160M or later.
Some Oasis boards may not be correctly configured for use with Power Mosaic
pattern navigator. If Power Mosaic Plus is installed and pattern navigator does
not appear, contact DI.Support to get the Oasis card license code updated.
Supported Microscopes:
Only the microscopes listed are suitable for use with Power Mosaic and
MultiStep:
Only the cameras listed are suitable for use with Power Mosaic: Turboscan
and Standard scan modes and MultiStep:
The Set Shading feature sometimes fails with these cameras, please contact
Di.Support for advice.
Hardware:
12 730 193 Oasis-blue Controller board and Cable Kit for stepper stages
includes:
Please refer to the table. Note: At least one stage insert is also required.
The Smart Move controls the stage and focus: The focus knob on the
microscope stand is disabled when configured for Turboscan..
Other scanning stages may also be used but suitability must be confirmed in
advance of use.
Motorized Focus:
DM5500-6000 use internal focus motor driven by Oasis using CTR MIC
control cable with Z breakout.
Encoder Option:
12 730 195 Oasis-blue Encoder kit for Power Mosaic used where best
accuracy is required with high-mag objectives.
Includes daughter board that fits on the Oasis-Blue board and modified XY
Cable for Encoder Inputs.
LAS System Requirements Page 10
Requires 12 730 196 Mrzhuser Scanning Stage 100 x 80mm 2mm with
Encoders.
Integrated graphics, AGP graphics, graphics that share CPU memory and
using a mobile graphic device.
Less than 400 MB free RAM before LAS starts. 700MB is required for LAS
MultiFocus and LAS MultiStep and 1 GB for LAS Power Mosaic. Installed
RAM of 4 GB or more RAM is required.
Multi-boot environments.
