Why we read fiction

makes us more empathetic/sympathetic? Why cant we just use factual stories?

safe place for experimentation, practice risky/tricky emotions?
relieve us from being stuck in ourselves by being alone with ourselves?

What IS fiction?
narrative (not completely true, other media)
not true (strange compound of real and imaginary in different amounts depending on the genre)
have to SAY its fiction, turns what would be lying into a worthy activity

What is narrative/narration?
any account of connected events that says theyre connected
conscious telling of the story
well-crafted story, narrative imposes this form of the story on the world
anti-narrativity: looooooves doing what its not supposed to.
