Government policy to prevent HIV/AIDS

"The Government of Swaziland Policy Document on HIV/AIDS and STD Prevention and
Control" provides a clear policy framework that will guide all partners, both national and
external, in our individual and collective efforts to prevent the further spread of the
HIV/AIDS epidemic and to reduce its impact on affected individuals, thier families and
the community at large. It will form the polic basis for the development and
implementation of the Swaziland National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and control
of HIV/AIDS and other STD. The policy development process incorporated national and
international best practices and evidence on the most effective strategies and
interventions that hold promise in reducing HIV incidence. A number of HIV response
documents informed policymaking: the Swaziland National Multi-sectoral Strategic
Framework for HIV and AIDS (20092014), Swaziland HIV Estimates and Projections
Report (2010), Swaziland HIV Prevention Response and Modes of Transmission
Analysis (2009), Swaziland Demographic and Health Survey (2006) and the Swaziland
National Multi-sectoral HIV and AIDS Policy (2006).
