SAMMY the SNAIL

It was the day of the annual

Garden Games and all of the
gardens creatures were
buzzing with excitement.
Sammy the snail was sure he
would win this year!

He stretched his foot,his

neck and his antennae.

The first event was the log

jump. The competitors each
took it in turns to try and
jump over the giant log . All
of them made it !

All except Sammy ,that is.

He barely made it across the
start line .

The next event was the pond

swim. The competitors dived
into the water and swam
towards the far bank as fast
as they could . It turned out
that the pond swim was not
Sammys best event .
Im sure Ill win this one ,
Sammy said as they began
the tree climb . All of the
competitors scrambled up the
tree and down again as fast
as they could .

But when the other

competitiors reached the
ground, Sammy was only a
teensy way up the tree .

The last event of the day, the

downhill race , began but
Sammy was soon well behind
. Then , all of a sudden ,he
tripped and started rolling
down the hill . Sammy landed
at the bottom with a bump .

He stuck his head out of his

shell and looked around. He
was first to the bottom he
had won the race !

The spectators cheered.What

an unlikely winner ! All of
Sammys friends were very
proud . But not as proud as
Sammy!
