MASTHEAD:

The masthead is bold large and pink which collectively make it stand out to
the audience. The masthead is also written in sans serif font, which can
connote a modern feel to the magazine, although it is pre 2000. The
masthead is situated conventionally at the top of the page.
MAIN IMAGE:
The main image is unconventional of a magazine cover. This is because the
main focus of the image is usually placed centrally. However, on this
magazine cover, the focus (Leonardo Dicaprio) is placed on the right hand
side of the page. This is effective as it makes it stand out from other
magazines that would use the conventional layout and makes the movieline
magazine more unique. Leonardo Dicaprio is using direct address through
the use of eye contact, which provides a connection to the magazine for the
audience as it looks like he is looking at them directly. This can also link to
his role as the heart throb in titanic, and make the audience fall for him even
more.
COLOUR SCHEME:
The colour scheme of the page is simple, but effective and consists of white
and pink. The white is a good colour to use as it contrasts well with the darker
background, making the text stand out more.
COVERLINES: The coverlines of the magazine are placed neatly on the left
side. They are situated in a line, making it easy for the audience to read. The
coverlines are effective as they feature famous names of film, to attract their
target audience for example: Julia Roberts, Marisa Tomei, Penelope Ann
Miller, Alicia Silverstone,Macaulay Culkin, Ethan Hawke and Juliette Lewis.
The coverlines also contain words directly linked to the film industry like
Hollywood and Oscars, this then confirms with the reader that this
magazine has a focus on film.
MAIN TITLE:
The main title of the magazine is just the actors name: Leonardo Dicaprio. I
feel that this could be made more effective to the audience as he is the main
focus of the front cover. This could have been done by changing the font of
the title or the colour to make it stand out from the coverlines.
