JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Al-Othman Consultants have out-sourced my services to SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) in
Central Operating Area (COA). I am currently working in Extra High Voltage Transmission
Line Project Department (EHVPD-TL) and I have been assigned three (3) projects - 380 kV
Under Ground Cable specially for Metro Supply & one (1) 380 kV Under Ground Cable
project in ERQA area for increasing overall capacity of grid. My current job responsibilities
includes but are not limited to:

Properly guide the contractor about trouble shooting issues related to coordination with
other Government agencies.
Maintain the record (both in hard and soft form) for all approved drawings and submittals
from SEC.
To make sure the contractor is executing all project jobs in-line with PTS and SEC
Standard requirements.

has introduced a pioneering agriculture value addition project, Pakistans 1st Rice Bran Oil
Refining & Extraction Unit, which started its commercial production during March 2015. The
pioneering project called, Project Basanti, generates untapped income for farmers from
waste products. It produces refined Rice Bran Oil by bringing specialized processing
technology to Pakistan. Also, it has its own independent co-generation power plant which
has remove reliance on the national grid.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
I had been involved in the project from its inception phase. My job responsibilities included
but were not limited to:

Ability to initiate and promote the discipline of planning engineering.
Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans and
construction schedules, for project. Reviews preliminary plans and specifications of
construction contracts. Prepares authorizations for change orders regarding construction
revisions.
Update overall progress, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports for top
management.
Prepare look ahead schedules, analyzing the delays & suggesting corrective actions to
higher management.
Load resources to schedule, preparing man power and resource histograms, preparing S-
Curve.
Advance study all Storage Tanks drawings and make BOQ of all required material in order
to calculate the material for which procurement process is yet not initiated.
Advance study P & IDs for all systems and make list of required equipment. Compare this
list with the updated lists of received equipment and calculate the balance required
equipment; Initiate procurement process for the same.
Advance study all piping isometric drawings. Prepare BOQs for all piping & fittings and
calculate the balance required equipment; initiate procurement process for the same.
Study all steel structural drawings and make BOQ of all required structural material like
H-Beams, I-Beams, Channels, Angles, M.S plates etc; co-ordinate and discuss with
consultant about alteration in steel structure specifications and design for cost saving
purpose.
Calculate the daily OPC consumed quantity as per drawings (i.e., in 1:2:4, 1:4:8, 1:3:6 &
1:1.5:3 concrete).
Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering
plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards. Resolves design or
construction problems and meets with contractors and the public.
Responsible for maintaining coding system/code register for company fixed assets.
Responsible for receiving foreign shipments and unloading them in warehouse as per
approved procedures.
Coordinate with different external parties that are involved in project like consultant for
EIA report, insurance company, foreign local representative who is also the authorized
equipment inspection team on our behalf.
To recheck the quality of material used in construction.
To review contractor monthly progress report, verify it against actual progress and then
approves the invoice.
Calculating the estimated quantity & costs for non-BOQ Mechanical/civil erection
equipment in project and initiate the procurement process for the same.
Performing miscellaneous technical works like pipe material/dia. selection, selection of
utilities pumps, selection of angle iron etc.
Ensure that there was no shut down of any kind of erection/construction activity at site.

supply, erection, and commissioning of 132 KV transmission lines, 380 kV & 132 KV sub-
stations (GIS type), indoor and outdoor equipment, large power transformers up to 100MVA,
HV/MV switch gears, and 33 kV & 13.8 kV distribution networks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
Deal with client, preparing master plan (design/engineering, procurement,
installation/construction, testing & commissioning) using Primavera Project Management-
P6.7 at tender stage.
Make the above mentioned master plan more comprehensive, once the contract is
awarded, and finalize the same after detailed discussions with all concerned
departments/engineers/vendors.
Prepare a separate comprehensive/detailed system design/procurement schedule (while
considering the milestones in finalized master plan) after detailed negotiations &
discussions with finalized suppliers/vendors & our design office.
Prepare a separate comprehensive/detailed testing & commissioning schedule (while
considering the milestones in finalized master plan) after detailed discussions with our
companys T & C engineers and proposed/finalized T & C subcontractor.
Get the client approval on finalized master plan, design/procurement schedule and
testing & commissioning schedule. Assign all schedules as baselines for future controlling
& monitoring.
Prepare separate detailed schedules for 132 kV Underground transmission lines projects
and co-ordinate directly with Deputy General Manager of company for all project related
issues, as these were classified as urgent/important projects from MOHE (Ministry of
Higher Education).
Review all electrical, electro-mechanical & civil base & detail designs / calculations /
drawings / documents received from design consultant, vendors/manufacturers and to
ensure that these have been prepared as per applicable codes / standards / TMSS / TES /
TCS / TSD / SEED-II and finalized PTS. Also to provide the necessary feedback, if
required, to my direct manager & company project director.
Highlight the critical & important designs in the initial phase of the project & suggesting
the corrective actions for the same to project managers to avoid severe delays in project
execution.
Go to all assigned project sites (Hail University 132 kV SS project, SWCC 132 kV & 33 SS
projects, Iskan 132/33/13.8kV SS project, Al-Andulus & Bani Nejjar 110/13.8 kV SS
projects, KKUC-1/2 SS projects) every 2 times per month to monitor the work progress &
to trouble shoot the major issues that causes the slow work progress.
Co-ordinate with SEC/AJEC site engineer regarding the variance between planned/actual
work progress percentage & deficit/surplus of project manpower etc.
Ensure that there is no communication/co-ordination gap between client engineers,
project team, site managers/engineers & subcontractors, so that project progress
smoothly.
Update overall progress, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports for higher
management as well as for client.
Prepare look ahead schedules, analyzing the delays & suggesting corrective actions to
higher management.
Make the detailed Project Operating Budget for each assigned project & review the
same on quarterly bases to ensure that slippage remains controlled.
Support the budget department/higher management in preparation/revising of overall
annual budget for company.

EMPLOYER PROFILE
Established & financed by AL-Ghurair Group of Companies / ETA Ascon, UAE, Star Power
Generation Ltd. (SPGL) was a special purpose built company for construction of 133.5 MW
combined cycle power plant in Sindh province of Pakistan.
The complex was designed to operate on 2+1 configuration i.e. 2 Gas Turbines (each 43.25
MW, GE, Frame 6B) designed for low BTU gas utilization, 1 Steam Turbine (47 MW Siemens
condensing steam turbine), Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Step-up Sub-Station for
interconnection with National Grid and associated control, protection and instrumentation
systems.

Job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
Preparing RFP for EPC contractors for execution of project on turnkey bases; analyze the
proposals, and assisting the top management in detailed financial / commercial /
technical negotiations with selected contractors.
Preparing RFP for laying and commissioning of Mari Deep Gas pipeline on EPC contract
bases, analyze the proposals and finalizing the contractor after detailed financial /
commercial /technical study and negotiations.

Rupali polyester Ltd own and operates composite facilities to manufacture Polyester Fiber
and Filament Yarn. The Company has the privilege of being one of the pioneers in Pakistan
for manufacture of Staple Fiber of highest quality. Since its inception, the Company has
been growing steadily through expansion and diversified operations and hence the assets of
the Company have been increased to over Rs. 2,931 million from the initial capital outlay of
Rs. 150 million. Understanding the future economic situations, the group planned in year
2004 to install 2 No. Gas fired power houses for self-consumption at their two production
plants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
Lead & manage the construction of 2 No. gas fired power houses constituting 2 x 3.0 MW
Jenbacher (JGS 620 GS) engines & waste heat recovery boiler of capacity 3.8 TPH @ 10
bars at each production plant.
Lead & manage the installation of chiller unit in production facility.
Prepare detailed project schedule using Primavera (P3) and assign resources and
expenses.

Kohinoor Energy Limited (KEL) has paid-up capital of Rupees 1,695 million and is a joint
venture of Saigols Group of Companies (a well-known multi-industrial group of Pakistan)

Japan.) KEL one of the pioneer projects of Independent Power Producers in Pakistan. The
principle activity of the Company is to own, operate and maintain a furnace oil power
station with the net capacity of 124 MW (gross capacity 131.44 MW) and WAPDA (Water &
Power Development Authority) is the sole customer of KEL.
The main equipment at power complex includes three ABB 63 MVA Step-Up Transformers
converting the Electrical Output from 11 kV to 132 kV, Eight WARTSILA Diesel 18V46 Type
Diesel Generators having rated capacity of 15.68 MW each and a Combined Cycle Heat
Recovery System capable of delivering an output of 8 MW through Peter Brotherhood Steam
Turbine.
