John:

I decided to put a dreamcatcher on the header of Johns webpage because of his childhood in Malpais
and because he is a bit of an idealist, especially compared to the other characters in the novel. The
quote on top of the dreamcatcher is from Shakespeares Troilus and Cressida, and is about how their
love will continue when they both become old and ugly, similar to Johns idea of love. The image of the
lighthouse clearly represents the lighthouse John stayed in at the end of the novel, but it is also
representative of Johns desire to find a new path, looking to the lighthouse for guidance like it gives
boats in a storm. I used an overall dark theme to capture Johns feelings of helplessness and depression
once he enters the World State. However, I also added accents of orange and yellow as a hint of light
representing Johns faith in Gods help and the little hope that he ultimately loses at the end of the
novel.

Bernard:

I made at least a portion of all the photos on Bernards website slightly blurred to represent the haziness
of Bernards values and self-identity. The header has an image of a blurred lion to display that although
Bernard sees himself as courageous and rebellious, he is anything but that. On top of the header I
added a quote by Bernard that captures his feelings of being an outsider. I kept the theme of his
website light with green accents to represent the jealousy that Bernard feels towards other Alphas that
fit in with society and live a blissful life.

Lenina:

For the header of Leninas page, I put an image of Eve offering Adam the apple of temptation, because I
feel it is very similar to the story of Lenina and John. Eve is not the source of temptation for Adam, but
rather a victim of the Devils temptation who convinces Adam to eat the apple. In this case, Lenina has
fallen into the ways of the World State society and is trying to get John to join in the lifestyle. I used a
dark theme with dark red accents to convey the theme of sex and sensuality.

Helmholtz:

For the header of Helmholtzs page, I put an image of the Buddha because his philosophy that material
things do not truly bring people happiness reflects Helmholtzs view of the World State and his aversion
to it. I decided to make Helmholtzs page much more jumbled and disorganized to mimic his confusion
about his place in life and what he thinks is missing from it. I kept his theme very light with hints of light
purple to suggest wisdom and enlightenment.

Mustapha:

For the header of Mustaphas page, I put an assembly line for an old car to reflect the idea of putting
efficiency above all else, which Mustapha trusts and promotes. I made the website very blocky and
organized to convey Mustaphas affinity toward order and stability, also reflecting his values as a
scientist. The black and white theme shows off Mustaphas professionalism and that he sometimes sees
the world in black and white. He believes that the only way to achieve economic stability is to take away
everything that makes us human, and that economic stability is of the most importance.
